I watched the video and wondering if it is hard to breath through all the layers of cloth?  Seems it would be hard to get air through them.

can breathe better than if you get sick

@jackthebear   I assume if you're well, no symptoms, the masks protects you from germs/bacteria getting in.

This assumption is what concerns officials, thinking that people will become less compliant with following social distancing and handwashing(not meaning that you will 🙂). These masks are primarily to prevent asymptomatic people from spreading the disease. Even surgical masks do not protect the wearer, only fitted N95 masks. This is my understanding.

CDC is now strongly recommending masks to protect both the wearer and any one in his space.  I shopped Publix this morning about 8:30; not overly busy, easy to maintain distances-  found some of what I need and a few wants.   Lots of masks -  I didn't count but I believe there were more men than women by far in the store and the majority of them wore masks.   Also unusual -  no couples and no parents with children.

On my way way I circled out to the ocean road -  beaches were empty but many, many walkers and joggers and too many talking with each other as they went.  No wonder the Palm Beach County numbers are showing up and up every time a new report is published.

So happy to be back in my own space.

Re: MASKS REQUIRED

[ Edited ]

The recent topic is people that have no symptoms spreading the virus.  So if everyone wears a mask, it will slow the spread of the virus.  Mainly because those that may be spreading the virus with no symptoms don't know they are doing it.  I've listened to enough on the topic that I'll wear a mask when/if I go in public.

You can also wrap a scarf around and cover the area.  I happen to have a box of masks.  It was on the list of supplies when I had cancer, but I didn't end up needing them.  Glad I didn't toss them.

I want one of these before I go out these days:

I had to have some stitches removed due to a fall.  The nurse said that wearing a mask is important and we should all do it.  She said wearing gloves is OK, but washing hands with soap and water is what's important. If you don't do both, wearing a mask is more important.

When I went to our local grocery store yesterday there were about half the people wore masks or scarves including employees.  My daughter said she was in Costco yesterday and she saw people even wearing big full head masks like they were going to war or a gas chamber! 😳

@itsmagic  I've seen that too.

Not by the Federal Government. States? Beats me, but not my State. The CDC suggests a cloth covering was the latest I have heard.

@hckynut  Yes, just a "suggestion" that you save your life and consider others. I don't get it.

@Shanus

None of the health professionals I have watched are sure everyone wearing a mask will change the stats on the virus. They all pretty much agree on the "on the front workers" need at least the N95 mask, but not on the "everyone" part.

The confusion seems to be those "Asymptomatic" carriers. Without testing one cannot be sure they are not afflicted with the virus. That seems to be the consensus today, but tomorrow? Who knows?

I don't have any masks and we went to the hospital yesterday and they didn't even have the ones that were always in every hospital waiting room. Empty!  Guess a big dish towel would work, maybe!

I personally think the "distancing" is more important, but what do I know?
