@ID2 The masks are not the most comfortable to wear, but I always have one with me and do respect places thsat suggest and ask that you wear a mask to enter. Smaller stores or crowded ones, like BB&B, Sam's, etc. I do feel more comfortable with the mask on.
Stores should have the option to request customers wear masks. Just as customers have the option to shop there or not. It is always tricky for businesses to know which way to go, they do not want to alienate any customers....but you can't make everyone happy with this topic.

If you are vaccinated, then those who aren't are no threat to you anyway. If wearing a mask makes you feel more secure, then continue wearing one. But they are not necessary anymore, if they ever even were. Social distancing, frequent hand washing, and avoiding crowds are much more effective in avoiding any contagious illness than those germ-laden masks.
@Buffalogal47 That's absolutely wrong, they are still necessary and mandatory for those NOT vaccinated. Sadly you are confusing your opinion with the facts.
@decaf our state lifted all health protocols. No more masks, no more social distancing, no more capacity limits. Yes they are "recommending" that if you aren't vaccinated you still wear a mask but there is no more mask mandate. So no, a mask isn't mandatory everywhere if you aren't vaccinated.

@Imaoldhippie. That's not correct. On another thread, Someone posted on another thread here last night that she and her husband just got Covid, they're not vaccinated and haven't been wearing masks. If you're NOT vaccinated, masks are the only thing that will protect you if you're exposed.
You also have people who have worn masks that got covid....people who have been vaccinated who have gotten covid. There is no proof one way or the other, only opinions. Do what you think is best for you.
Those are all YOUR opinions, statistics don't back up anything you're saying.
Most vaccinated people have NOT gottenCovid and masks DO protect, that why doctors and nurses haveworn them in surgery hundreds of years.
If the lawsays you need to wear a mask if you're unvaccinated, wear a mask.
@decaf , doctors and nurses don't wear cloth masks in surgery which is what most people are wearing.

That is your opinion.
I just find it hard to believe that some still think wearing masks do not protect anyone. I f someone infected with covid spews spit when talking or sneezes or coughs then both wearing masks will have a high degree of protection - the offender's germs don't travel far enough and the other person's mask will protect them if some does get out. If enough do not get the vaccination herd immunity will not be possible and COVID will more than likely start to spread again. We've come this far so why rush to even chance another outbreak? Too many are unconcerned about spreading it because they think they are immune because they are vaccinated or because they are so special they will not get it! If too many have that attitude COVID will never ease up for very long!!!
@Pook , aren't you the poster who just within the last week or so told me that wearing a mask protects other people and not yourself? Now you are saying both have a high degree of protection?
I may have you confused with another poster but I know I had this discussion with someone because the idea that a mask protects others but not yourself doesn't make any sense to me and never did.

@LipstickdivaI think that the comment in this subthread was not clear in meaning: "I am amazed by some of the comments here that people still think masks protect you. They do not."
Is the poster saying that they are useless or is the poster saying that it protects only other people

It depends on where you live and what the virus rates are, the vaccination rates, the hospitalizations and deaths. There are places that are still not doing well with those things. Our governor did away with almost all restrictions. Masks are only required in medical buildings. It's a such a relief. Of course, unvaccinated people are encouraged to wear maks because they can still get the virus but with more than half the state fully vaccinated and that number is growing everyday; there are fewer chances for unvaccinated people to get the virus. I was at a mall earlier today and there were very few masks but I did notice that most very young children had masks on. My 8 year old niece is still wearing a mask when she's indoors in crowds, like malls and church. I took a while to get used to walking around without a mask on. I got some mall walking in but the shopping experience was the pits. Some stores weren't open and the merchandise in every other store was sparse. I think it will take them time to stock up now that things are back to normal. Assuming that customers who have been shopping online for almost a year and a half want to go back to the malls.

@Lipstickdiva Many states (and even more cities and counties) are stil requiring masks. The news channels are bombarding the public with messaging saying it's highly recommended you wear a mask if not vaccinated.
I sure as heck haven't heard one that says you shouldn't wear a mask if you're not vaccinated.
ETA- In addition, any business owner in any state can require customers/ visitors wear masks even if masks are no longer required by a gov't entity.

I mask up before entering any stores still--not so much outside if I am walking anywhere. How can you know who is vaccinated or not??? Masks don't bother me--easier than brushing your teeth!!! I don't consider anyone who is unmasked to be cautious/considerate of others---that's the name of the game since 2016---I however, am!!

Political jab.....how shocking.
CDC says those that have been vaccinated do not need to wear a mask. They were cautious and considerate enough to get vaccinated, they did their part, yet don't meet your standards. How shocking....
