Looking for some great kids toys - Try Melissa & Doug

[ Edited ]

I'm just sharing as a grandmom I really was looking to get some interactive /educational toys for my 5 yr old GD visit.

My son suggested Melissa & Doug toys. I bought "order up" a diner play set, "School Time" play set (a little old for her but we improvised), suncatchers (very easy to make peel & stick) and Ice cream shop playset.

Wow! Not only was I impressed the countless hours we spent interacting and using these toys BUT the quality is excellent!

These toys are staying at my house for her visits. I bought in the 5-8 category....hours of imagination time. Come to think of it, she never asked for the IPad games or TV for 10 days. Of course, she had a "non-stop playmate" with me & her PopPop!

YAY🎉

I have taken a picture of your items as a reminder for their next visit or for Birthday presents👍🏻

WOW no iPad time... that is great!

@lolakimono

first made me aware of M&D brand and I have been thankful ever since. It is a well-made, educational and well-thought-out brand.

At Christmas, we gave them wind up wheels trucks/the art supply coated paper items/the flavored playdough and magnetic building blocks.

Re: Looking for some great kids toys - Try Melissa & Doug

@homedecor1  -  My daughter loved all of her Melissa & Doug toys.  We had the ice cream set too!  Although she's a teenager, she wanted to keep all of those toys (packed in the attic along with her nice kitchen set).  M&D has a great pizza playset, birthday cake set, and food set (where you velcro the pieces together & can "slice" them apart).  She spent hours with those toys!  I loved them because they held up great and she used her imagination.

They have a money set (with bills and coins) which was great for teaching how to make change and to borrow.  When our son was learning to borrow, I'd use the bills and coins to show him what it actually meant and he could see it.  It really made sense to him at that point.  Enjoy these days of play!

Another place for great interactive /educational toys are the Five Below stores.  Everything in there is between $1-$5.

@Mz iMac

Yes we went there while I was home to pick out things for her upcoming bday party. Lots of stuff - fun store.

I don't do well in a toy store I like everything & so does she! Having only 1 Grandchild it's easy to get "carried away"!
