Aren't you improving, albeit slowly?

orthopedic healing takes time

@Justice4all

RD-RA is a strange disease, as are most autoimmune diseases.  One doesn’t get better a little at a time (or worse, for that matter) . . . Each day is diametrically different, it’s all over the place.  It makes it very difficult to plan anything when you don’t have any idea how you’re going to feel when you wake up.

my main issue is exhaustion, I can deal with the pain.

I completely identify with the issue of exhaustion.

@LilacTree when you feel bad just try to remember the best days and have hope that there will be more of those days to come.I think positive thoughts really help healing.

is your daughter still living with you?The two of you could plan a girls day out and maybe get your hair or nails done and have a little bit of lunch somewhere.You could go wild and plan an extravagant day of your dreams that includes things you always wanted to try but never did.Even if you never get around to this outing the planning is fun.I like to buy lottery tickets and plan what I will do if I win.This gives me lots of pleasurable thoughts about how many people and animals I could help.

I hope for many more good days in your life and I am happy to see that you are well enough to post again.

You have every right to a down day once in a while, most of us have them.

Hope your spirit lifts in short order.  🌸

I was diagnosed with RA at age 17, And understand the toll it takes mentally, physically, and emotionally.

@Drythe

As you know then, it’s not the same as feeling sleepy, taking a nap, and then waking up refreshed. One could sleep for 12 hours and wake up just as exhausted as they were before.  Although my flare of seven months has abated to a lower level of pain, the exhaustion remains.

It pains me to think you have had this since such a young age.  I was at least given six decades of normal health before it hit.  I am so sorry.

Yes.  It makes it impossible to do anything.  There are times I can’t even hold my head up.

My appetite has improved and I am consuming more calories.  I actually gained a pound back yesterday.  I find I have to eat more of the foods that are supposed to be bad for you, like fats and carbs.  Ironic, isn’t it?

Sure, too many fats and carbs are not good for you...if you're fat!  Obviously, you know nutrition and are making sure to take in the necessities.  Slowly, you will regain strength.

Any visits from grandchildren, or friends?  We are getting into March winds, but also sunshine!

I was told that Vitamin D is dependent on Vitamin K, as in broccoli, kale, etc.

keep distracting yourself with this kind of reading...or whatever gets you excited again.

As your weight increases, your power increases.

Also, binge reading or watching what you really enjoy will help you get through this rough time.

                   Much love from one of the members of your cheering squad!

@Justice4all

what an understanding post.  Thank you!  My goal is 125 lbs.  I gained weight in the hospital and then lost it within a couple of days when I got home.  It finally dawned on me that I was eating a regular diet in the hospital, so Erin started buying  regular food for me and I am starting to gain.  I think once I get to a more reasonable weight for my age and size, I might not be so exhausted.

Gastro doc always said it’s better for people my age to be a smidge chubby, and now I know he is right.

thanks for the cheer Justice, you’re the best.

Thank you for an encouraging post.  Sometimes I feel I’m going to rally and sometimes I feel the opposite.

What you you said was sweet and lovely, and reminds me that deep down I have a strong will to live.  I always had that strength, I always fought back . . . Just gotta find it again!
