They bring their own containers if they want to take food home. I never do that when we visit family, but I'll occasionally accept some dessert for DH, and put it on a paper plate.

@bargainsgirl I always had every family holiday meal for 40+ years. And for many years, I would ofter to send leftovers with anyone who wanted them. I was also expected to supply containers.

I was expected to make and supply all the food. The only exception was my Dad made the pecan pie.

I think that with my age, I am starting to get tired of this arrangement. This Thanksgiving we had a rotisserie Turkey breast and I kept it all for myself. It was so good. I knew my immediate family would have no trouble eating it themselves. Fortunately since I did not offer no one mentioned it.


I would not appreciate someone wanting left overs when not offered. But if they had trouble cooking or budget troubles, I would be glad to share.
