Laughing Stock Of The Neighborhood

Yes, that is me. I got lost in the woods behind our house. I am  a bit scratched up, fell twice, took me 3 times to get up. After 2 hrs. of wandering around aimlessly and calling out for help with no one to hear me  (I didn't think to bring my phone with me), and my husband ready to call the police to find me, I finally found my way home. I didn't tell DH I was going for a walk and he was in a panic. It was hot that day and there were trees and big limbs down everywhere. Needless to say I was exhausted when I finally found my way home. DH told me I better check for tics, which I did. Thankfully none on me.

Lesson learned. It took me 3 days to recuperate but I'm fine. Never stopped once except to sit on a log for a minute. Did step over a big garter snake and had a big brown spider crawling up my pant leg. It was scary but I finally figured it out. I'm still pretty sore but it showed me, I'm stronger than I thought I was!

You need to learn the Native American tracking methods so you can just retrace your steps!

When I was young and in the Girl Scouts, we learned how to blaze a trail (mark trees with an axe cut), so we would never get lost in the woods.

I do not wander in the woods these days, but then I live in a big city, so I can always explore lots of city blocks for hours and hours (especially if I go up to the NYC diamond district!).

Glad you made it home safely.

I am happy that you got home safely. A few years ago, a woman went missing in a neighborhood here and they found her deceased in the woods.

Oh, my goodness! So scary! I don't go down the cellar stairs without taking my phone. Hahaha!

ETA: YES! You are stronger than you thought ... certainly stronger than I am.

Glad you're ok @jubilant !   That definitely sounds like something I would do if I didn't live in the middle of the city.   My sense of direction is terrible, so kudos to you for finding your own way out!

@jubilant.  I did that once when I was four or five years old.  It's very scary but I, too, eventually found my way home.

Glad you're back home and mostly unhurt. Yeah, take that phone with you, you never know when you'll need it.
