@SilleeMee @On It I'm a weather junkie too. My sister gets so disgusted when I excitedly wow her with weather information about a place she couldn't care less about. She's tired of hearing how warm it is in Roswell.
I also love maps. Can far easier find my way with a map than that stupid GPS.

@On It @Kachina624 , kind of amazing that there is a clump of vegetation in that expanse! Thanks for the photo. I am thinking of grains of sand in everything. That must be awful!

@Lilysmom1 For me the sandstorm occurs in West Texas. It is beyond awful, but it is generated by loose top soil and sand drifts that form with each storm. Very few people in our area of West Texas have swimming pools. The maintenance because of the sand is costly. Some have those outdoor living/kitchen areas. Not me. I have enough problems keeping the lawn chairs clean.
Our mountain home sits at 7000 feet. When strong wind hits here, it is a dust storm. Dust is easier to manage than sand. I am in Southern New Mexico roughly 2 hours north of El Paso, TX and the Mexico border. @Kachina624 lives in the Northern half of the state. We have three major TV stations in Albuquerque that provide all of the news and weather for the entire state. Lately the weather guys have been facing quite a challenge.

@Lilysmom1 It's yucca and grows anywhere. I pull it out of the gravel in my front .

@On It Thank you for the clear explanation. I get it about the pools and outdoor kitchen. It would be very difficult to maintain those in that environment. LM

@Kachina624 I had a variegated yucca in my garden but lost it one winter. It is borderline survival in my zone. You need to find a micro climate in the garden. Hard to do in our windy location but climate change has probably fixed that. I see them in other gardens locally. LM
