July 2020 Bird's Nest - Respite from the Summer Heat

Welcome old friends and new to the Bird's Nest.  Speaking for Michigan, it looks like summer is gonna be a scorcher here Woman Mad  Thanks goodness the Bird's Nest is a shaded area so that we can visit without getting heatstroke Heart

Blue Skies - Marjolein Bastin.

Among the trees is a bird's nest,

and in the nest her three eggs rest,

and in each egg, Hush, you'll be heard!

There lies asleep A tiny bird.

@Bird mama

We're so excited to have our 3rd nest with bluebird eggs for this year!

So far 10 baby bluebirds have entered our bird world, now expecting another 5!

SO exciting!Heart

Re: July 2020 Bird's Nest - Respite from the Summer Heat

July is starting out extremely hot and humid here, with heat indexes heading up to 110* through the next few days.  But that's typical for this time of year.  Every year it still seems to surprise me that it gets that uncomfortable, though.😄

The only things that seem to be active are the bugs.  Even my hummingbirds are only out in the early morning and evening.

Thank heaven for a functioning air conditioner and television.👍

Re: July 2020 Bird's Nest - Respite from the Summer Heat

July is coming in as a typical hot month ... 90s with little rain for the next week.

That makes me sad --- my crazy nextdoor neighbors will probably have a yard full of visitors ... not one of whom will be wearing a mask, and with loud music going until the cows come home.  Add to that the M80s and other loud fireworks ... and I just want to run away somewhere.

Good news is that my Robin family has finally flown the coop and I have my yard back!

July 2 Mostly Sunny  90/69

July 3 Partly Cloudy  93/70

July 4 Mostly Sunny  93/70

July 5 Mostly Sunny  93/71

July 6 Partly Cloudy  93/72

July 10 Partly Cloudy 93/71

And people wonder why I'm not crazy about summer Woman Mad

Thank goodness for the silver maple in the front yard and the fact that I am in a 2 story house.  I have the sprinkler going in the front yard and will spend a few hours soaking it (want it really saturated).  The area I am watering is shaded.
