Welcome dear friends and new visitors to the Bird's Nest for July.
Among the trees is a bird's nest,
and in the nest her three eggs rest,
and in each egg, Hush, you'll be heard!
There lies asleep A tiny bird.

This is one of my favorite birds. We feed birds year round and have a lot of baby birds now. Evidence is egg shells all around the yard. We sometimes see young ones trying to fly. Or mothers getting worms to feed them.

We have several of these in our yard. They favor the suet cakes.

Hello one and all. I DID fill all the feeders today - Ricky helped. The picture of my State Bird - the Cardinal of course is just great. We do not have any out here in Sou Cal. I think education was a tad different in my day - I remember my state flower, bird and motto. Dogwood, Cardinal and Esse Quam Videri - to be rather than to seem. And of course the state I was born in and lived in until I was about 15 - Dad was in the Army and off we went - was North Carolina. I went back a few years ago for the first time in 50 years - very emotional and believe it or not some of the homes we lived in were still there. Saddest thing of all however was the fact my grandparents home was gone - they lived across from the NC State Fairgrounds and had 100 acres. That was difficult for me to see it today - Poole Equipment , a Shell gas station, ultra fancy condos or apartments and so it went. Sigh.So much truth in the saying which is "you can never go home again." The beauty of that State remains however - yes indeed.
Now I am really tired - Sleep well everyone.
