I did have a somewhat enjoyable morning yesterday - went to a breakfast in Redlands, Stonecroft Ministries. It is fine to an extent but their programs in my opinion, are all the same. Well it is religious in nature but even so, have speakers that give different messages - please!!! I had stopped going and was talked into going back yesterday. Not sure I will go next month. They always have someone there with their own business to promote such as how to serve tea, hats, purses, and so on. I usually enjoy those but the primary speakers to me are boring. I thoroughly enjoyed one speaker in the past who had been an addict and she spoke of what she went through to get out of that rut. She was awesome. And another speaker who had been a prostitute - another awesome person. Most, however speak of growing up in households with indifferent parents, they changed, parents never did but they developed somewhat of a relationship anyway. I just have a problem as these people tell the identical stories - hear it once it is fine but not every month. OK, so perhaps I am the only one that feels that way. LOL.

Family returned late yesterday afternoon - had a good dinner. There went my peace and quiet.

Actually slept in a couple more hours than usual - really loved it. Conrad decided when it was time for me to get up this morning - he had to go out. And of course the kitties scrambled about for their early morning treats - they are characters. I took my Sunday morning pill for bone density, had my glass of water and I finally got to go and fix my cup of coffee. Sure do not like waiting for it but the pill has priority - 30 minutes before I can put anything else in my tummy other than the glass of water with the pill.

Hope to get some house cleaning done later on - I know it's Sunday but have to do these things when the urge presents itself and Sundays are usually the best day for something like this. Otherwise I am running errands and basically church is my errand for this day. Love it.

Hope all have a good day. Chilly here this morning but am sure the afternoon will be sweaty - just like yesterday.

@Bird mama  The Cobra insurance checks... one goes to the entity for medical and another check goes to somebody else!  Hopefully, I will call the "another check" people (this check is for Eye/dental) and my status will not be "terminated!"

@luvsbulldogs  thank you!  Maybe by tomorrow it will be OK... I have found ONE woman within each entity who can be counted on to send the message for things to be straightened out! : )

As I've mentioned before, I don't have cable, so I get channels via antenna.  One of the channels is Decades TV.  They are having a mini series binge on Car 54, Where are You?

I always loved Fred Gwynne as Herman Munster.  I love him in Car 54 and it's neat to see Al Lewis (Grandpa Munster) in the same series.

I have howled through every episode.  This is true comedy.

Hello everyone - I'm giving an EPI a shout out.  Girl, come out of the Bermuda Triangle and join your buddies at the back fence.  We're keeping a chair open for you :-)

My weekend was low key.  I didn't bother cutting my grass since I cut it last weekend and we didn't get much rain to get it growing.  I don't like my grass to be so short that it starts turning brown.  We were supposed to get rain last night - nothing.  There is talk of rain storms today - I think they may get pushed into Indiana - sorry for Indiana.

I went to the dentist on Saturday.  I'll be seeing her frequently for the next few months.  I have a 10 year old crown that needs to be replaced.  Frankentooth (a molar with almost 80% metal filling) is going to be crowned.  I also want to get a partial to fill in the blanks from a couple of missing molars, upper left.

She asked me again about implants.  I told her, these teeth have been missing for many years.  The bone has likely thinned and since they are on my upper jawbone, my sinuses probably dropped some.

I don't have the patience to get a sinus lift (just writing that makes me flinch) or bone graft, just to allow someone to sink a screw into my head.

She smiled and said, well you do read up on things (lol).

I trimmed Poppi's beak on Saturday night.  I only had to do the lower this time.  He is not like Presto - he won't fly to me when called.  So, this means, lights out and the chase is on.  I've been doing this nearly 10 years and each time I'd swear I shave a couple of months off of my life expectancy.

On Sunday, I cleared the back yard of walnut debris.  That walnut tree is, what do you call it, nutting?, kind of early this year and the squirrels are out of their minds with joy.

I then lubricated my garage door springs and garage door opener rail with some WD 40.  I blink alot and twitch when I get near those springs.  I'm kind of scared of them.  The reason for that is a couple of years into buying the house, I backed out of the garage and lowered the garage door.  DH was inside the house in the kitchen.  I heard a loud noise and it was one of the springs had broken and had shot again the garage wall.

We replaced both springs - well, we hired someone to replace both springs.  I don't think I am exaggerating when I say I bet one of those springs could rip your arm off or maybe kill you if they broke and hit you in the head.

I then did grocery shopping.  High point of that was 20 pound bag of bird seed was on sale so I bought 3.

LOL, birdmama, you have a way with words, making me laugh often, this post especially.  Once, while driving my old station wagon years ago, filled to the brim with sacks of twenty-five pound cat litter, and cases upon cases of KalKan cat food which I was feeding the foster cats at the time, I heard a loud noise, which caused me to duck as I thought someone had shot at my car, that is how loud it was.  When I got home, I saw that one side at the rear was lopsided, turned out I had popped a spring due to the heavy load, cat supplies I mean, lol.

Re: July 2015 - Back Fence

[ Edited ]
Woke up about 3am to see nothing but fog. I was supposed to sit my Great Grand while my grandson took his oldest dUghter to cedar point to ride roller coasters. She is 12. It was a surprise for her. I didn't know that and kept slipping up especially after he whispered to me it was a surprise.
I got ready and by 6.the fog had lifted but severe weather was predicted. Natalie's mother was teaching a sumner art class at the university. Joe and Madelein went ahead and when they got to Ohio skies were clear.
Our Indiana town was not so lucky. Thunder, lighterning and rain. One time it was so loud I ran to the window but it was the garbage truck. What a job to have in a storm
Nat and I colored and put puzzles together on the iPad. About 11 daddy called from Ohio and it was still clear there. Our storm was passing by too. They have a basement so we would gave scurried there if the wind had gotten stronger
Another round is supposed to come through at 9 tonite. Hope the wind isn't too bad. Merle's the kind of guy who always wants to look out the window and "see. What it is doing". Several trees around the city went down because their root ball was satuated with water and couldn't stand against the wind. We have no basement here but I always charge up my Kindle and head for the bath tub if it seems too scary. So hopefully joe will get home before the next rumble. How can you ride roller coasters all day. Makes my tummy hurt
I'll add my shout out to Epi. Hope things are ok

Betty, you always have interesting stories to tell. That weather, however, sounds pretty questionable to me. We do not have a basement here either - in fact very few people have them out here. Not sure they are even allowed to be built anymore due to earthquakes. Couple houses I rented thru the year had small basements - where you could put food, etc, but NONE big enough or nice enough to stay in during bad weather. These were in super old homes - just do not think they are allowed any more - at least not in the area I live in.

I will also give a call out to Epi - you are missed my friend. Hope things are well.

Gas prices are just soaring. Just saw on TV where a couple places out here have it at way over $5 a gallon - that is ludicrous. Will not know what it is in our town until I go to Curves and then will saunter up a couple blocks to check. Put gas in day before yesterday and due to my zillion errands, and such, I have to do, am down to a half tank. Just do NOT like that at all.

Not suppose to be as hot today and sure hope that is true. Five degrees less is a blessing sometimes. Experts say we will have rain by Friday, just do not believe it however.

Have a great day everyone.

Hi Betty, they had forecasted storms for Michigan yesterday, but I think they went through Wisconsin, Indiana and Ohio.  We did get some rain last night - my team lead asked if I heard thunderstorms.  I didn't hear didly squat.

It's been years since I've been to Cedar Point.  Speaking of interesting places in Ohio, when I was really little we went to Sea World and as an adult I took my Ma and middle sister to King's Island.  I think Sea World and King's Island have been closed for many years.

I think we are getting more rain during the day and I wish it would get in and get out.  I am volunteering for Metro Youth Day at Belle Isle for a few hours tomorrow and I don't want to be fighting heat, humidity and possibly rain.  It's supposed to cool off for tomorrow and I can tell you that is a prayer answered :-)

Hi Freddie - I'm glad I have a basement.  I don't often have to run downstairs and hide there, but it's comfort knowing it's there.  Wow, your gas prices are so high.  The gas prices around here are just under $3.

I have my fingers crossed that you receive the rain that is forecasted.

Birdmama!!!!!
I am alive and well. Or, almost well,LOL!!!!
Sorry I have been MIA, just hate this new format, and we are all well, but have been dealing with family matters that I just don't want to go public with. It's not my friends here, but one never knows who else is reading here....
Our trip to Bermuda was really nice,a grand old hotel like in the 40's movies. we stayed in a beach front cabana, just LOVLEY!!!! the ocean was a little cool but the pool was heated, and most of all the food was really great, with the price to match. HollyCow it was expensive to eat, as they import almost everything, but we ate what we wanted to.That was the whole point of going, to splurge!!!!
Winifred, wish I could help you out, we had some amount of rain every darn day in June. I lost my beautiful ****** willow tree. It got so wet in the yard that it up rooted and fell over, coming right out of the ground. maybe I'll put a Lilac in but somewhere else.
I have sent HASD e-mails and E cards and have not gotten a reply. that's strange for her. Do Hope she is all right. Will try again.
getting used to my new laptop. I bought the VOTD last week and got the Dell. my old one just died, the hard drive went and I think it is not worth the $ to have it fixed. I like it,but takes some getting used to. I like the laptop because I can read it easier, and like being able to download a C D of something if I want.
It has been soooo hot here since May. think we have had A.C. off for maybe 3 nights total. every day temp or heat index over 100. and the rain, makes it so humid. I almost never go out. My DD and I sometimes go out to the deck when she's here. It has a ceiling fan,but it's not much else. we really do t get hot till End of July and Aug. Boy, I can't wait to see what it will be like then...
I promise together back to the fence more often, just got distracted, you know how it is....
Glad to see everyone here.
Glad toBe Back
