Can anyone give me any ideas of a surface I can do a puzzle on. I can't do it at the kitchen table because it would have to be moved and I don't think I could reach to do it in my wheelchair. I could put it under something on the table but I don't think when I am sitting down I would be able to reach it. I was going to use the tablemate but it isn't big enough. Same with my walker tray. Any ideas what I could use so I can maybe sit in my recliner and do it.

How about a card table?  There are some mats you can buy on which you do the puzzle then it can be rolled up and moved leaving the puzzle intact.

That could work if I wanted to use the kitchen table. I could always go back over to my sisters and get my bar stool to sit on. I found a 34 by 34 table on amazon that would work. I will ask tomorrow to see if my mom has any ideas before I order one.  I wish there was somewhere I could go into the store. My mom is going to sams club this weekend but I didn't see any online.

My husband sets up a foldable rectangular table (banquet/crafts) that we bought at Costco.  The height is adjustable.  He has one of those felt roll-up products, as well, like Kachina posted.

I like to work on my laptop while sitting in my small recliner. I looked everywhere online and googled for a table that had legs that would slide under the chair to pull close in and be wide enough and high enough to slide over the arms of the chair without anything getting in the way of my feet. I finally ended up ordering #V34395 here online and crossed my fingers that it would work. It was simple to put together and is adjustable in height and in angle. The top can be wiped clean. It worked out fine.

Posterboard .........it works and can be moved and also cut to size. The reason I mention that, is that my last puzzle needed more room. It helps since you can do sections of the puzzle, and then go from spot to spot.  I love to do puzzles, mostly in winter, but with my new little dog, she still is learning things, so I can't do any now. I did just get a new White Mountain puzzle catalog.  I'll have to look through that for ideas. Have fun.

I had that problem also.  Finally resorted to JigsawsGalore on line.  Now, I thoroughly enjoy doing my puzzles on my laptop, without regard to where to store while in process.  If you're inclined to do a puzzle on your computer, I highly recommend JigsawsGalore(dot com).  You can change the size and shapes of the puzzles to suit your whims.  And the creator is awesome to deal with, should you have any problems.  I believe there's a free download available.

This is kinda expensive, @ccassaday, but I think it fits your request (from Bits and Pieces dot com).   If you sign up for e-mail you get $5 flat rate shipping and 15% off.

@forest4thetrees  That is quite an interesting item.  I've never seen one of these.  Thanks for posting, you just gave me a great idea for a Christmas gift for my daughter.

She does puzzles all the time.  She calls it her therapy!    (she's 33)

My thought exactly. My late mother-in-law always loved big puzzles like this. She was never in a wheel chair, only a walker. She kept her card table in a corner of her small apartment always open so she could easily work on it any time she wanted.
