@Bird mama wrote:@mousiegirl that reminds me of the one time I paid for a Little Caesar hot and ready $5 pizza with a $5 bill and half dollar (to cover tax). The girl who took the payment stared at that 50 cent piece for the longest. I told her, it's realy money, you know a 50 cent piece.
Jesus!
@Bird mama LOL, she was probably trying to figure out if it was a tip or what it was for, or maybe she hadn't seen it before. DD spends every cent she earns, almost before it is in her hand, drives me crazy!
She recently has received refunds for this or that, and asked me for gas money yesterday. I told her she should budget for the necessary things, instead of spending all her money on unnecessary items, so let her and her boyfriend figure it out. They live way beyond their means. When I was her age, I worked, worked overtime, and struggled to make ends meet. I paid bills first, then lived on what was left, with no help, so I am not very sympathatic to her money issues.

I hope you don't mind @viva923 I'm copying the details of that ordeal here to make it easier for other posters unfamiliar with that thread. It's a popular thread ![]()
Here's what Viva wrote about the vaccine today:
yesterday here in delaware they had mass pandemic innoculation events at 2 dmv's offices. people waited in line for 7 hours, some just gave up and left, other waited for the full 7 hours for this. NOPE would not wait for 7 hours for anything in line in a car. i told that one to dh today, he said these people must have idled their cars to zero tank of gas unless they carried along containers in their trunks/or had double gas tanks on the cars/trucks. anyway, these were appointment people NO ONE was allowed in and turned away if they did not have appoints. dh and i put our name on this list we are way at the bottom, 200,000 ahead of us. so we'll get them just don't know what year as of yet. you fill out paperwork on line wait for an email fill out more paperwork run that on a copier bring that along with you to one of these events. then the news said our state only had 20,000 doses left after yesterday fiasco. guess the 2 dmv's in our state clogged up 2 of the 3 highways in this state so badly, traffic was jammed up so badly people could not go anywhere unless they traveled into a surrounding state to get around the mess. the remaining open road was clogged with the people who usually take the 2 traffic clogged roads. it was a fiasco zoo yesterday to say the least. there has got to be a better way.

You are my kind of woman @mousiegirl I don't spend what I don't got. In cases when I am going to spend like I did on that cooktop and window for the front door, I bought them from home depot and insisted on one year no interest
It will be paid off in less than 6 months but I liked having the wiggle room.
I dug myself out of debt once in my life. It wasn't a crushing debt, just credit card debt that started to feel like an anchor attached to a rope around my neck. I swore once I got out of it I would never do it again. My credit cards haven't made so much at 5 cents interest on me since 2007.

@viva923 that is one hot mess that you described with the vaccine.

I am totally with you Birdmama,I can't tolerate debt either. Pay our credit cards off and paid off our 30 yr mortgage in less than 20 yrs. what a good feeling.
my luck has finally turned around. Went online to bank site this morning. They canceled our service charge . Also called the aG I office to make appointment. Usually it's a four week or usually more wait. Got an appointment for Wednesday,2 days away. WOW. Maybe I should go out and buy a lottery ticket 😆

@Epicurean Most doctors around here and hospitals too for that matter are practically begging folks to come in and swear it's safe. They may as well be talking to a wall because I am going to delay the annual OB-GYN appointment (we chat and he gives me the script for the mammogram), the mammogram and probably my teeth cleaning on March 11th or 13th. We have cases of UK virus that are taking off here and since I have no idea when I am gonna be able to get the vaccine, avoidance is the key for me.
They are probably happy to have a 'paying customer' at the GI guys office. Oh yea, I'm due for a colonoscopy in September, man 5 years goes fast. We'll see how the virus is doing here before I schedule that. I will get myself checked out, things will just be delayed, lol.
I'm so glad they cancelled the service charge at the bank.
