She has only two options. Meet with the neighbor and explain that this can't continue and ask if they can put up a fence to block the balls on their side. If they refuse. She has to call a fencing company, explain the problem get a fence put up on her side. I think there might be some type of net fence to help.

I have great neighbors except for one. My very existence ruins her day. I can't think of a reason for it, it's a mystery to me. As for the issue which, to me, is minor and easily solved with the added opportunity to make a friend and a memory that will be an amusing story in future.

A white vinyl fence is a large canvas.
A hole in it is ugly.
The woman has had four holes in it in the past month or so.
She has just lost her husband. That is a LOT to deal with.
So if people think she should just let it go, or take brownies over and sing Kumbaya with the neighbors, let the kid's and their friend's keep knocking holes in it, I'm so glad those people aren't my neighbors. Seriously.

There are solutions to the issue, a net or a barrier on the neighbor's side...It's not vandalism, not breaking into one's home, not a physical threat, not setting fires...All things these boys could be doing. They are just having fun in their own yard that unintentionally causes damage to a fence. The problem has a remedy and hostility isn't it.

I believe the op stated that the neighbors had somewhat of a fence on their side.......so.......maybe a net would work. Best of luck to her as so much she is experiencing right now without worrying about holes in her fence.

The perfect solution would be for this guy and his kid to move in next door to you since you don't have a problem with the kids just having "fun' and "unintentionally" damaging your fence multiple times! Nobody was talking about remedying the situation with hostility. Some people don't respond to shrinking violets and only respond if you give them a reason to take you seriously...like I'm not happy with the repeated damage to my fence and I want it to PLEASE STOP so I won't be forced to take further action! Lame excuse to say at least the kids aren't vandalizing, setting fires or threatening physical violence...let's pat them on the back for only knocking holes in her fence repeatedly. You're right, there is a simple solution and the responsibility to fix it lies with the dad!
