Dan Huges just made the statement on QVC that ''QVC is the world's largest shopping store''.....Is it larger than Amazon????

Shouldn't a store have a physical site to walk around in? QVC is a station and a website.

Amazon isn't just a store. Amazon does sell it's own products but Amazon is a platform in which millions of sellers sell their products. You think of it as a marketplace where millions of sellers list their products. So Amazon is more than a store or retailer. QVC has shopping channels and Qvc.com all over the world and is a store or retailer so Dan is probably right but comparing Amazon to Qvc is like comparing apples to organges.

I'm sure he made it as a flippant remark, but you would have to wonder what criteria he was basing his statement on.

He may have meant televised shopping store.

Dan needs to give us his definition of "shopping store." If he meant the largest TV shopping "store," then OK.
The largest retailers in the world are:
1. Walmart
2. Costco
3. Kroger
4. Walgreens
5. Tesco
6. Carrefour SA
7. Amazon
8. Metro Group AG
9. Home Depot
10. Target
For those thinking Amazon is, not so.
Walmart's overall sales of over $500 billion compared to Amazon's $259 billion overall sales by far still makes it the world's largest retailer.
Amazon is the largest online retailer, but Walmart is nipping at it's heels.

So silly.

No, I don't think that's a requirement anymore. Amazon was absolutely a store before they had physical bookstores and grocery stores.
Merriam-Webster uses this definition: A business establishment where usually diversified goods are kept for retail sale.
Amazon and QVC both keep diversified goods for sale, they just don't let you inside to purchase at most locations.
