Very interesting.

Of course, in my real world something that expensive should have four wheels and get me to the supermarket!

Never saw that before.  Not my cup of tea, but someone else might love it.

pure decadence...when I was young my father spent some time in England and purchased Royal Doulton figurines for my mother.  I inherited and keep for purely sentimental reasons.

@ECBG To each his own!  You've got to have a lot of disposable income for this kind of purchase but I'm sure somewhere there is a potential buyer.  lol

Re: Interesting!!!

[ Edited ]

I opened this post & immediately went,

‘OH MY GOD’.

I took a deep breath & started researching...

They are Meissen Porcelain Monkey Figurines from Germany.

This line started back in the 1700s for royalty & other high toned

European customers.

(wiki)

The European wealthy accumulated vast collections and when a

wealthy class emerged in the United States people like the

Vanderbilts started their own collections. Many of these collections

then found their way into the world's great museums.

Even featured in the Chicago Art Institute.

Even after all the justification the Meissen Porcelain Monkey

collection is considered very frou-frou, I still went,

‘OH MY GOD.’

It might have been acceptable back in the 1700s, but with

today’s 21st Century sensibilities, monkeys dressed as humans

is highly offensive.  And I truly believe that is why many of the

American collections are in museums today.  They don’t want

to be saddled with this offensive stereotype.

Thanks, but...no.

This collection may have been popular in one time and place and for the wealthy, very snobbish.

I do not find the collection offensive but do find it unattractive and not appealing nor interesting.

Funny, as I would not pay $10 for it... or want it if someone gave it to me.
