Instead of wasting money on fireworks that upset dogs, Vets, and children spend the money elsewhere so you can do some good for animals in need.

What a great idea @Sooner  and @Meowingkitty   In addition, so many get hurt and maimed.  Forgo home fireworks and enjoy your towns offerings.

I think it's a good idea. I would overlook some of the strange comments that some posters have made.

No, no, no.........Fireworks are a part of America's 4th of July celebration.  We need to be reminded of the freedoms our country was founded on and fireworks are a part of that.  Don't take that away!!

As far as animals are concerned........That's just the way it is.  We can't cater to them to be deprived of our rights and enjoyment.  I like animals, but there is a time when humans rule first.

We are in a high danger/ Forest fire area and our local Indian casino has a laser display. I see that some cities have bot displays.

Re: Instead of fireworks

[ Edited ]

Though I still find them pointless and noisy, and if you've seen one of the better ones, you've seen them all, sanctioned fireworks displays are one thing. There is, however, no need for every miscreant out there to go and avail themselves of fire crackers, cherry bombs and so on and then shoot them off for hours on end. If anybody needs a blast of fireworks to remind them of their alleged freedoms, then there's something very off kilter. I agree with the suggestion. Do something worthwhile and skip buying fireworks. Almost every area offers some sort of community display. If one is desperate for that sort of thrill, they aren't hard to find. And, as far as it goes, most humans almost always put themselves first. That's part of the problem. Consideration for neighbors and for animals, who are terrifed by them, is not asking too much.
