I once heard a piece of wisdom that I never forgot. Our goal as parents is not to raise good children but to raise good adults. By that measure, I’d give myself an 8. No parent is perfect and that certainly includes me, but my daughters grew up to be great mothers and career women. They volunteer, are politically engaged, earned advanced college degrees, and take care of their health. One daughter hasn’t done too well in her relationships. The other has been married since 1991. All in all, they’ve done OK and I’d like to think I had something to do with it.
