I like my name now, but when I was a kid I told my parents that I wanted to change it to Veronica. You see I loved comic books and Veronica was a main character in .Archie comics. 😹

You wanted to be named Veronica and I wanted to be named "Annette" after faithfully watching the Mickey Mouse Club with Annette Funicello.

I was named after my paternal grandmother.  I was the only Carmela I knew, except for grandma aged ladies even though I went to an Italian school.

I didn't like my name when I was a child, and always went by Carmie.  As an adult, I like my name and would never change it.

I adored my aunt Carmela.  As kids we always referred to her as "Aunt Mel".

Re: If you could change your first name. what name would you choose?

I never loved my name. It was a more common name in the 50's and I have had two close friends with the same name.

My mother was considering naming me Diane, but named me

Donna Marie.

In high school, I loved Natalie Wood and wished that my name was Natalie. My friend, Jayne and I used fake names back then. I was Natalie and she was J.Pamela.

Years ago, when I performed Middle Eastern dance, I had a stage name, "Amani". My then boyfriend helped me choose it.

He said that it means "a dream or a wish" in Arabic.

I would never legally change my name, but I do like the name Diana, as in goddess of the moon.

Your behavior says far more than a name.  So I'd work on that if I were going to change something.

Re: If you could change your first name. what name would you choose?

I was named after my mother, I was the first daughter born after my parents had six sons. I always wanted a different name because everyone called me little, being we had the same name. Once she passed away I appreciated having that connection to her.

Re: If you could change your first name. what name would you choose?

I never liked my first or middle name (especially when used together).  I was named by my 10 year old sister and was given the shortened rather than formal version of a name.  An example would be Libby instead of Elizabeth.  Has caused some confusion over the years.

If my dog doesn't like you, neither do I.

Re: If you could change your first name. what name would you choose?

@smoochy I have seriously considered changing my name - it doesn't feel like 'me', if that makes any sense and i've honestly felt a bit uncomfortable with it.   To me, it's not a cool name, and I have to choose between the nick name for it (too immature at this point in life?) or the more formal version (not really me).  But it is what it is and by the time I thought about changing it I felt I was older and it would be weird to change.   Remember when puff daddy kept renaming himself?  lol.

Funny enough I considered summer, like you, but because it's my favorite time of year and is a very free spirit name. But more seriously I thought about holly or Sarah.

Juliet is a beautiful name.
