Re: If you could change your first name. what name would you choose?

I never minded my first name even though it is very common but I never liked my middle name.

But if I had to change my name for some good reason I have always liked Jennifer and Alley.Woman Wink

Any name that doesn't come with this question...Is that with a C or a K? I reply a C & get a K anyway.

My name starts with a C and I get that all the time.  Is it with a C or a K.  It gets tiresome.

Daddy was away in Eastern Europe when I was born (WW2). I was named after him and he had been named after the doctor that delivered him. We still have the letter that thanks my Grandparents (from that doctor) for doing that .

Because my name was so different I hated it and wanted a name like Linda,or Susie.

Today I am proud to have that name.

Daddy's family wanted to call me "Cookie" as a nickname but Mom said"There will be no Cookies in this family". My first name is somewhat British, but a little more common in todays world.

@Group 5 minus 1 ,

My Mom gave me the nickname Cookie. (I have a  Boomer name). She said she did that because she thought I was cute as a cookie. My family and close friends still call me Cookie...and I like it because it reminds me of my Mom and how much she loved me.

Re: If you could change your first name. what name would you choose?

When I was in grade school through high school in the 50s and 60s, I wanted a "normal" name like my friends: Sherry, Barbara, Patty, Carol Ann, Julie - names like that. However, the older I got, the more I liked my first name and found that it wasn't so unusual after all! Now, I wouldn't change it!

Re: If you could change your first name. what name would you choose?

I have a pretty common name but my middle name came from my mother's cousin who was a nun. I woud have liked that better cause I would be called Lily. I love that. We have three daughters so when the third was born we couldn't decide on a name before leaving the hospital. I could not be discharged before we chose a legal name. Suddenly we had one. lol

I would not change my name. My dad told me a story about how he got my name from a classic movie he watched. I like my name.

Shanus is difficult for some to spell or pronounce and I always need to spell it when over the phone, in a store, etc.

I don't know why my folks didn't go with "Shane" which means the same in Hebrew, but would have been much easier for me to deal with.

My real first name is a traditional family name.  There's one in every generation.  I was named after my maternal grandmother.  I appreciate it now but when I a kid I wanted to be a Lisa or a Cathy or a Chrystal.

@chrystaltree  Six of my relatives were named after our paternal grandmother. Six Margarets. Seeing them on FB now and most of them have the same last name, so we all knew where it came from.

I really like my name, it is unique!!! Now if you asked me this when I was a child after having to spell and correct everyone all the time, I would have answered differently...
