I don't have a middle name, my very first job a co-worker never heard of such a thing and said everyone should have a middle name, so she gave me 'Marie' ever since then she and everyone starting calling me Ann-Marie, the name stuck and even my family will once in a while call me Ann-Marie.

I don't have a middle name, either.  Neither did my mother, for that matter.  When I asked her why, she said she couldn't decide on one.  I use my maiden name on most documents, including my driver's license.

If I changed my name (not for real, just "playing"), I would call myself Summer, that's when my birthday is. Or Juliet because to me that sounds beautiful.
How about you?

@smoochy  - We have the same taste.  I've always loved the name Summer.  I almost named my daughter Summer, but didn't.  I've always loved the name Juliet.  If I had to change my name, I would choose Juliet!  Smiley Happy

Re: If you could change your first name. what name would you choose?

Daddy was away in Eastern Europe when I was born (WW2). I was named after him and he had been named after the doctor that delivered him. We still have the letter that thanks my Grandparents (from that doctor) for doing that .

Because my name was so different I hated it and wanted a name like Linda,or Susie.

Today I am proud to have that name.

Daddy's family wanted to call me "Cookie" as a nickname but Mom said"There will be no Cookies in this family". My first name is somewhat British, but a little more common in todays world.

My real first name is a traditional family name.  There's one in every generation.  I was named after my maternal grandmother.  I appreciate it now but when I a kid I wanted to be a Lisa or a Cathy or a Chrystal.

In high school, I wanted to be a "Debbie" so bad.  Now, I like my real name much better.

Re: If you could change your first name. what name would you choose?

Interesting topic.  I too have a typical 1950's-60's first name.  It was ok back in the day, but I liked my grandmother's first name, Anastasia,  and wish my parents would have chosen it for me.  But, they were first generation Americans and with the exception of my youngest sister, we had those 50's names.  My last name is 12 letters long (Russian/Polish) so that would have been a mouthful. I didn't change it when I got married because it was so unique.

When my friends and I would go to bars and clubs in my late teens and early 20's, Anastasia was always my name lol.

Re: If you could change your first name. what name would you choose?

When I was a kid, I went to camp one summer and told everybody my name was "Jean", a far cry from my actual name.  They must have thought I was hard of hearing because I couldn't adjust to responding to it.

That was the end of that.

Re: If you could change your first name. what name would you choose?

Even though my name was always in the Top 10 baby names for many of the years surrounding my birth,  I rarely come across anyone with my name.  I like it but never liked my middle name. That is my mother's name and was an old lady name to me when I was a kid.

When I was young and single and went to bars, my "fake" name was Lisa ☺
