 I believe the answer depends upon the man and the woman involved.  Neither gender seems to be 100% truthful 100% of the time.

Kinda depeds on his heart and his intention.  The female can misinterpret what he says and then he's wrong.  Or she can trivialize what he says and ignores him.  

I'd be afraid of a serial killer if one were to catch you alone and then says a very scary thing to you.
