Wish I could understand your story.
Ordered shoes, shipped to store. The store held your shoes until July 20th and you expected a credit yet your order is cancelled?
Makes no sense. If your order was cancelled, your credit card would not have been billed. If the store did receive your shoes and you didn't pick them up and they sent them back?
If JCP doesn't have your e-mail account, they can't send you any e-mails so I'm all around confused.

@Venezia, Yes, it is odd but it's true.

I was confused by the story too.

I had a very similar issue back in 2015 with JCP online. I went through many of the same frustrations. I ordered online but never received a ship to notification and the only way to know if my order had reached the store was to call numerous times.
So, when I got to the store, I was courteous and nicely asked the person helping me if this is a known issue. She said yes; it's been going on for a long time and JCP knows about it. Employees including herself have asked JCP over and over to fix the online site and software that manages orders being shipped to the store. This doesn't seem to affect orders shipped directly to customers.
So, when you order online and ship to a store, you will not receive any type of email notifications whatsoever. There is a disconnect in the system.
So please have some patience with JCP employees; they are also at the mercy of what they have to work with. It seems that they need to overhaul their online order management system to fix this. But JCP is aware of the problem.
I like JCP and their career wear in particular.

I don't think that's that long to get a refund, not when you let them sit at JCP then you cancelled the order, which ment the store had to send them back to their distribution center, then from there they would have had to go through their refund dept.! What a round about way to do this, I don't understand why you didn't go to the store pick them up and then ask for a refund, if you had done that they would have refunded them right then and there. Sorry but this doesn't sound like JCP's fault it sounds like your blaming them for your mistake.

I called Customer Service to get a recorded message saying that my call will be answered in 72 minutes.. That was one call, the other recorded messages were 32 minutes and 40 minutes. I finally had to drive over to the store. To make a long story short I was told my order was cancelled but I never received an email. Never again will I shop at this store. If you cannot get a hold of CS and there are no emails to tell you the status, I don't have time for the stress. Unbelievable. 19 days to receive a credit. When I got home the credit actually came through today on my charge account. That's why Customer Service is so important.
Your story makes no sense. I have shopped with JCP and ordered online. I received an e-mail letting me know they received my order. I received an email letting me know it shipped. Also, I received an email letting me know I could pick it up. One time I picked up a order and realized I had the identical item at home. They gave me a credit immediately.
If you didn't want the item you should have given them a courtesy call. To blame JCP for your behavior makes no sense.

I do not understand the sequence of events here. THe OP ordered shoes and they were shipped to the store. SHe received some sort of notice I assume saying they would be held until 7/20. SHe decided she did not want them and assumed, I guess, that when she failed to pick them up the order would be cancelled and her account credited but that didn't happen fast enough to suit her???

I order ALOT from JCP.....some of their merchandise comes directly from the manufacturer....like Easy Spirit shoes.
I got a confirmation email after I ordered my shoes....after a couple days they told me that the shoes were no longer available and gave me a credit.
After another week, I received an email that my shoes were available for Pick-up...... I was curious WHAT they had ended up sending me...thinking it was probably the shoes, but thought I would accept a different color or similar style.
Went to JCP...and there they were!

I thought JCP was closing.
