Hugs and speedy recovery!  I live in Vermont and I do not go anywhere without my trackers/grippers on my footwear....I have several sets and they can be taken off easily...well worth the investment

Hope you will be back to normal in no time @Imaoldhippie .

Thanks for letting us know to be careful.  I'm getting ready to take doggies out and it's very slippery out there with the snow and ice.

Take care of yourself.

Ouch!!! I had a nasty fall down the stairs and broke my ankle in 3 places and had compartment syndrome so my heart goes out to you!!!

I quickly learned to hop while using my walker...I'm a klutz so I didn't use crutches. I also learned to traverse the stairs on my posterior until the bones healed. I also used a clean trash bag to wrap my leg when I showered.

I hope some of these suggestions help you and I hope you are soon on the mend! ♥️🙏

@Imaoldhippie

I am so sorry to hear of your fall.

I broke my right ankle a few years ago, and thank goodness DH was right there and could call 911.

I developed "fracture blisters."  Never heard of such a thing until it happened to me.  The surgeon had to put off my surgery until they cleared up a bit.  The blisters completely covered the top and sides of my foot.  My skin was so raw my foot looked like it had been burned, and caused more pain than my broken bones.

On the way home from the ER my husband went into Walgreens to fill my prescription for the heavy duty painkillers and bought a "rollator" that the ER nurse recommended.  That is what I used to get around the house. Put my right knee on the seat and scooted to where I needed to go.  Took me awhile to get the hang of "driving" it!  We also ordered from Amazon a lightweight wheelchair for when we had to go somewhere during the time I could not put any weight on my right foot.

Being immobile was awful.  Getting in and out of the shower was also a nightmare because I had to climb over the sides of the tub (it was a tub/shower combo).  I decided then and there to get the tub taken out and just have a shower, and a few years later I did just that.

So sorry for your accident, and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Sorry about your accident.  Hopefully you will be back on your feet soon.  One more thing I hate about aging the need to watch every step you take.

I'm so sorry to hear of your fall.

Negotiating getting around and being non weight bearing is difficult.

Will pray you heal as quickly as possible. Please take care.

I cringed reading about your accident. I was raised in Chicago and when I got married we moved to Calif and a few years to Arizina. As much as I hate 115 degrees I will  take it any day instead of ice and sleet and below zero weather. LOL  It is much easier to keep cool and a lot safer.

I hope you heal quickly dear lady.

Sending prayers and well wishes for a speedy recovery to you. Years ago my wife fe all on the ice and fractured her tail bone. It took a few months and alot of pain to fully recover. Ice can be super dangerous. Good luck dealing with the recovery.
