Falling is so different now than when we were young!

Not saying you're old!

I remember one time when I was in my 20s, there was one small patch of ice on a city sidewalk. The size of a square potholder!  I was walking along in my spike heeled Candies (remember them?) and BOOM--down I went.  And just as quickly-- bounced right back up.  Didn't miss a beat in the conversation I was having with my co-worker.  lol

Now, totally different story!

You'll make it and you'll heal and this will just be something to talk about for the next decade.

@wagirl ........I did order one very similar.  I have not used it yet.  I am working up the courage to get into the shower.  I am still not allowed any weight bearing on my right leg.  I do have a small built in seat in my shower and a non slip matt but I am still  apprehensive.  I am getting stitches out Wednesday and a hard plaster cast.  I will feel more secure with the hard cast and will try it out after Weds.  Meanwhile, sponge it is.

Thank you for your help and advise.

@Imaoldhippie ----oh I know how scary it is getting into the shower--I had to climb OVER the bath tub--Woman Surprisedand my bathroom is soooo tiny --hardly any room to move. Took me 2 weeks!!! Then I couldn't stand myself and my greasy hair--- just did it!! But that leg cover is the best thing. It felt amazing to just let the warm shower  water hit me after such a long time. Think I stayed there for almost 1/2 hour just under the water. I manuvered from  my wheelchair to  small armless chair to the  tub edge , over tub edge, onto the bath chair then did the whole process in reverse into my wheelchair and all with just a splint. . I am exhausted just thinking about all that. Glad to hear from you---hope you will ease thru all this when you are finally in your cast and can get a routine down. This is hard work!!!

Wrap a trash bag around area to keep dry, and rubber band it closed if you need to.  It might have a tie at the top you can use.  Sounds like a bad fall, hope you heal and feel better soon.

@Imaoldhippie ---So how did your dr appt go? I believe you got your stitches removed and then a cast put on--is that right? How long will that be on?  Did dr mention physical therapy in the future?

@wagirl .......yes got stitches out, and a hard cast put on for 3 weeks.  That appointment will start weight bearing.  So far Doc has not mentioned physical therapy.

I am doing as well as expected.  This old body has been through a lot of trauma in the last 3 weeks and I am physically and mentally woren out.  I take several catnaps during the day which helps.

Thanks for caring enough to keep checking in with me.
