@Shanus ...I hear ya. Things were so much simpler when we were growing up. (You and I are close in age). I don't text, don't even own a "smart" phone. I'm ready to go back to the old days of turning on the TV and adjusting the rabbit ears. I have no desire to attend classes to learn all this complicated electronics stuff.

When I was a kid and stayed on my grandparents farm, there was no TV, no computers, no phones, just a radio. Worked for me.

I promise to remind myself every day that I am strong, courageous, and resilient.

i am on FB, but no instagram, tweeting or snapchat, etc.

i had some issues with my internet and when i called the service provider, she started asking me questions in a language i did not understand.  LOL.  i have no idea what the modem, router, etc are ... or what their functions are.  and when she asked me if i knew what my wifi password was, i just laughed and said 'of course i don't'.

my dd came over and installed a new modem (or was it router) LOL

and she put my new password in two places that i am sure not to forget.  and yet, i bet i will.   thank goodness for adult children.

Re: I FEEL OLD AS DIRT

[ Edited ]

Well, I am as old as dirt. Lol. I text with my family for easy short messages, otherwise talk on the phone or FaceTime my family on the other side of the world.

I don’t belong to Instagram but I check some of the hosts Instagram and I especially like looking at Chris Prymes. She shows some beautiful pictures of her farm and her life.

Love my IPad, would never use a desktop again. Oh, also check Martha Stewart’s Instagram and blog. Very interesting. Most well known people have open FB and Instagram pages, so you don’t have to belong. ETA, I belong to FB pages from my home town and surrounding areas to see what’s going on there. Also belong to the town page of where I live now. Like to keep,up with what is happening in town.

I am another one that doesn't and won't ever use Facebook, Instagram, etc.  I enjoy reading and posting here.  I didn't use a computer when I worked years ago, but I am quite good at placing orders online, checking bank balance, etc.  I carry my cell phone with me, but only for emergency situation.  I am terrible about using it--takes me forever to get  it to where I can place a call and don't know how to do anything else with it.  I don't text, use aps, etc.  I don't know why, but I just can learn how to use it and to use all the features.      Speaking of Facebook, a friend (86) told me she read something on FB that made her so upset, she couldn't sleep that night.   I'm glad I don't use it.

I am on FB, but only have a few "friends", mostly relatives. Most of them are kooks IMO. Some post messages to dead loved ones. I find that very strange and creepy. I am seriously thinking about closing my FB account.

I promise to remind myself every day that I am strong, courageous, and resilient.

Don't feel that way @Shanus , I sure don't.

i don't  Facebook, tweet, Snapchat or Instagram either, but by choice.

I read a book, take a walk, chat with my neighbor four doors down, play on the floor with my dogs, talk with DH, garden, cook.

This forum is as tech-y as I get.

If you aren't in some degree on social media and able to use phones and basic technology, it's like not being able to drive was when you were young probably.

Get with the program, get a book or go online and dig in a little.  it's good for your brain and it's necessary.

Where I live Twitter is better for storm warnings than any other medium, and this stuff can be very helpful when information is needed. It's just part of life now.

I guess people don’t understand FB. You choose your friends. You don’t just get news from a bunch of nuts like a newspaper. If one of your friends post things you don’t like, unfriend them on FB and in life. I’m not sure people know what social media is. Newspapers, tv news, etc. That is social media.
