@San Antonio Gal      I caved a few days ago and ordered a few random things from the registry but did not join in on the virtual shower.  It was set up with a simple click on a link to get you in.  I heard that the mom-to-be did mention to the group that I sent her certain gifts so I'm happy she was notified that the gifts were on the way.  From what I heard, it was a very quick online event.  Glad I did what I did.  All that stress and worry and it all ended up just fine.    :-)))

Re: I ATTENDED A WEDDING SHOWER

@San Antonio Gal

So just wanted to follow up about the virtual baby shower...

Like I said, I sent my gifts but did not participate in the virtual shower.  So far, no thank you message or any communication.  Meantime, I don't have the mom-to-be's email or even actual address.

Similarly, I wonder if this situation might arise.  A friend of mine invited me to attend the baby shower for her son and girlfriend last year.  Our sons have been friends since grade school so I went.  I've never been invited to SEE the baby, and now his first birthday is approaching.  Why do people invite you to things and then you fall off the face of the Earth??  Experiencing that now with a very, very close friend of mine, as well.  I've attended her daughter's bridal shower, the wedding, and the baby shower over the course of the past few years.  The baby is now almost two.  My friend has never asked me to come over to see the baby!  I hear how wonderful and adorable she is, but never, hey, I'd like you to see my granddaughter.  When she shows me photos, I always say how much I'd love to meet her one day.  Is it really all about just getting a gift????  Makes me wonder.

Re: I ATTENDED A WEDDING SHOWER

Yes I agree with receiving Thank You notes.

It seems in my experience that it's hit or miss.

Maybe even generational

I generally never received a thank you but out of the blue someone

will surprise me and say thank you.

We live in a society of narcissistic behavior. My own daughter married a year ago

I never received a hand note just to say thanks Mom for helping not have I received

a photo of the pictures I was asked to stand pose for

It's a society that sticks it's head to the side only looking one way and saying

or issuing gratitude it's part of the process.
