Re: I ATTENDED A WEDDING SHOWER

Do they even SELL "thank you notes" any more?    Most folks I know use the phone or email...

Re: I ATTENDED A WEDDING SHOWER

It's rude, but it happens.

According to etiquette rules, you have up to one year to send out thank you's for a wedding gift.  Shower thank you's should be sent out immediately within a two week time period.

I usually get a written thank you within a month, but I noticed they are sloppily written with grammatical and spelling errors with my name spelled incorrectly.

Even the envelopes are not addressed correctly....all college educated, but at least they sent them.

Re: I ATTENDED A WEDDING SHOWER

I have a feeling that many / some people feel that saying 'thank you' to each guest at the shower is good enough.

Not me.  I love to send thank-you notes.

Makes my day!  (I'm serious.)

Life is never ending changing.

I guess we just have to get along and 'go with the flow', so to speak.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Re: I ATTENDED A WEDDING SHOWER

I get a handwritten note from 50% of future brides. One time a friend actually thanked me on behalf of her daughter.

Years ago DD attended a birthday party at a popular children's play place. I think the boy was 10 or 11. When we thanked the boy's mom at the end we got a goody bag (I still was trying to adjust to those. Some parents gave "goody bag" gifts that were equal to the gifs the birthday child received! I tried to select small gifts for each sex.)

Along with the goody bag, the mom handed out a sealed envelope with DD's name on it. Inside was a thank you card thanking her for "her gift" and how much he likes it! I don't remember if he had even opened it!

I liked this mom, but I had never seen anything like that before or ever again!   Smiley Wink

I hope you're not planning to send a wedding gift.

@Luvsmyfam It's also old school.  A new day is here, people are either lax about thank yous at all or using new means of communication.

If you need a new hobby it's something to fret about.  Otherwise, things simply evolve as time goes along.  Either give a gift or don't--no obligations.

Re: I ATTENDED A WEDDING SHOWER

I only expect an acknowledgement if the gift is $500 or more...
