If you are eligible to retire but are just holding out for more money, I'd get out now. I'd take retirement now. Get out of there as fast as you can.
If you're waiting just because you're not eligible for Medicare yet, you can use the ACA plan for just one year or use COBRA for the year. If you're waiting so your Social Security benefit increases when you take retirement I'd take retirement now and wait until you're the age you wanted to claim my full benefit or take it when you must, even if it's a little less.

First, ignore any advice about getting a lawyer. Companies are way too smart to get caught discriminating (even though they technically are). Instead, keep working hard and doing your best. Maybe slip a hint you plan to retire in about a year. Then ride it out and count down the days. Hopefully, the new person will find another job (some change jobs frequently) and they'll be glad to have you.

A company is never going to admit wrongdoing but a good employment lawyer can guide you and if needed, piece together the circumstances of the situation. At the very least, he or she could counsel you on what to do if you are terminated, how to respond to a write-up, what to do if they ask you to resign, offer severance.
I know, I have been through a horrendous situation and we finally filed suit for unlawful termination. The employment lawyers know what to do and many offer a free consultation. What you are going through is horrible and I am sorry you are dealing with it. .

Why do posters share something and when responses come back, they disappear. Seems strange to me.

HR typically acts to protect the company first.

Maybe...if you are 30 and could easily find a new job with comparable pay.
She has so little time til retirement. Why would she want to lose her pension and benefits this close to it.
Wow. As an officer at a huge corporation, that would not go over well with the company. If I was her leader, I wouldn't care. But that's not the case for most leaders in any company.
It's clear something changed in her when the new employee started 6 months ago. She needs to look inward instead of looking for excuses and using the new person as a scapegoat.

Get out. I suspect you did nothing wrong but they want to get rid of you because of age. Don't even consider wasting money on a lawyer, the company always has the upper hand. And like others said, HR is not your friend. I wish you all the best in retirement, you'll feel so much better.
