Re: How will Florida ever rebuild after Hurricane Milton?

@foxywoods ---- I can't imagine how horrifying that was for you to actually see. So many "what ifs" enter into something like that, right? I had a few weeks of mentally going thru  "what if" scenarios.  .

Re: How will Florida ever rebuild after Hurricane Milton?

We vacationed in Florida two years ago after Hurricane Ian.  One day we drove to Fort Myers shortly after arrival to visit the outlets.  When we arrived, the entire place was abandoned. It was shocking to us to see empty parking lots and no stores.  Does anyone know if they ever reopened?

Re: How will Florida ever rebuild after Hurricane Milton?

I went through a deratio and had damage and at the time I was so upset but nothing like Florida.  It took a long time to get everything taken care of because of materials and high demand.  I was lucky because my neighbor down the street son was a contractor and came in from another city and so I was able  to get my roof done as well.  They did a great job.  After that it just took time to redo the other things and find someone honest and reliable.

I just can't imagine nothing left or no place to go.

Re: How will Florida ever rebuild after Hurricane Milton?

unfortunately, the reality is some places will be uninhabitable.

people should not live that close to the ocean.

there was a NatGeo show, narrated by Michael Douglas, that said humans should not live within 100 miles of the ocean.  it aired about 10 years ago.  i thought, wow that's crazy in more ways than one.

but maybe its not!

you can't keep re-building in areas prone to natural disasters.  it just does not make sense, financially, emotionally, physically and enviromentally.

they intereviewed a worker in FL and he said:  'all those boats that you see pile up are leaking oil and gas into the canals and ocean'

these natural disasters have devastating effects on a myriad of things.

all the debris from Helene was strewn about from Milton.  all the debris goes in a landfill.  just the trickle down effect is a tremendous strain on all our resources, natural and man made.
