How tall are you?

[ Edited ]

Thru the years I have been made to feel bad about my self and  have felt very self concious over how tall I am.  You would think that i am 9 feet tall the way some people have acted! I am 5'7" and yes most always I am taller than anyone else in my friends group and some family. But I dont feel I am outrageously tall lol!!  I always wished to be shorter but have tried to embrace my height lately.

I started out at 5'4.5" but as we do I've lost a 1/4 to 1/2".

I always wanted to be taller as on my paternal side of the house instead I'm on the maternal short side (but extremely thankful to say I'm very paternal thin).

I'm 5'4 and I would love to be your height. You tall women look better in clothes, and I have always been envious of you.

@FlowerBear@I used to feel bad when I was young.5’9” was tall but people would say you are so big.Made me feel huge and awkward.I was always ashamed of my size 9 feet too.My friends were size 7 and under so my feet looked really big compared to theirs.We are not considered tall by today’s standards so I am surprised people still talk that way to you.I once saw a pro basketball player in a line to purchase at a store and walked over to stand behind him so that I could feel petite.LOL.

You should not let them bother you .... if you think about it all of the ladies wear heals to appear taller.

I'm barely five ft and although I'm 70, I haven't loss any height yet.  I've always wanted to be 5 ft 2 inches so that my clothes would fit better.  They don't make many clothes in petite sizes.  They expect you to pay a seamless if you can't sew.  The garment industry pays much more attention to plus sizes than they do short people which I've always thought was unfair.  Little me ends up paying more for a garment than a plus sized person.

Five ft seven is not very tall.  I thought it was considered average.

most of my adult life, 5'7',  now, 5'5.  That's down 1/2" from an earlier in the year measure.  I'm the incredible shrinking woman.  Now, just tell the scale that to go along with the height. LOL

I will say that being a girl or woman and being overly tall used to be a bit of a 'hardship' when it came to dating, and people thinking it wasn't an attractive trait, but I notice that in the last decade or two, tall women wear their height with pride (as they should!).

I think it is one more stigma overcome.

@Mmsfoxxie

I'm only 5'1.75".  And, I totally agree with you.  Just wanted to mention years ago had wanted to become a 'stewardess'; however, had to forget about that due to height restrictions - another area short people were discrimminated against!
