Black & white TV with only 7 stations old!  Placing a long distance call through an operator and waiting for a call back.

Washington, D.C. had a great football team and legendary coach.

 

Cars had carburetors; you had to pump the gas pedal to get them started and they were always balky in the cold.  Gas was .25/gallon at one point and it was normal for big cars to get 7-8 MPG.

 

Picking up birth control pills at the pharmacy was to be dreaded - those looks from across the counter!

No TV - then Black/White = 1 channel

And when a long distance telephone call was a big deal & expensive

I am Gunsmoke, Rawhide, Wagon Train, party line, black and white t.v., and penny loafers with a dime/penny in slot on shoe-- old.  Plus, American Bandstand, brush roller, spoolies and diddy do-- old.
