How often do you call (not text) your family? - Page 5

I call three of my siblings 2-3 times a week. We always have things to discuss!

my mother, my kids, my ex, my s/o.......all are called and sent texts daily.

siblings.......text and emails every few days. calls every 2 -3 weeks or so.

I was born very late in life and thus did not have my parents that long. Lost my Dad when I was 35 and my Mom when I was 45. When they were living I saw them at least 3 to 5 times a week and talked to them at least 3 times a day. I was so very very close to both so it was crushing to me when I lost them. I have a sister who is 19 years older than myself and she is in assisted living. So I have no living family left; not even cousins, all gone. My sister and I talk maybe wice a month but not for long as she has dementia. DH is an only child and his parents are gone. So now it is just him and myself.

My DH and myself were very involved with both his and my parents. We went on trips together several times a year. My DH did many activites with my Dad. As you can see our lives were very much with our parents. Our parents were everything to my hubs and myself.

Actually,we text no one. We do keep in touch w/family and friends with phone calls about 1-2 times per week.

I only call my son when I have not heard from him in awhile or I need something immediately, we usually text. I call my youngest sister and my elderly aunt once a month.

No parents or grandparents left. I am the oldest of 4 kids - 2 brothers and 1 sister. Brothers rarely call whereas my sister texts once a week to check on me and then calls once a month. That works for me bc I hate talking on the phone. My sister's father-in-law is still alive and in his late 80s and my sister/BIL often have backyard barbeques at his home and I'm often invited to those.

I like texting because you can do it when you want and the other person can answer when they want. If it is an immediate need of course you have to call them. I talk to my sister several times a week by phone because she does not text.

My fathers side of our family for the most part are in PR. I am very worried about this recent storm Dorian. Maria was bad enough and they are still recovering. I lost my cousin and my sister-in-law in the hurricane Maria. We call each other everyday and are very close, even though I am in Jersey we text also a few times a day. But mostly we call to touch base.
