Re: How much $ to tip movers?

I tip them anywhere between $20 and $40 each, depending on the distance, whether or not they have to go up and down stairs, their attitude, how fast they work, and how careful they are with my items. I have been using the same company for decades and have never had a problem.

I promise to remind myself every day that I am strong, courageous, and resilient.

I like to tip when the service is very good. I'd say $10 to $15 each. Movers work very hard --- just lifting and carrying items --- especially if there are stairs involved. A fridge, washer and dryer are heavy items --- and I assume you'll have them connect the washer/dryer.

A couple of years ago, I ordered 3 full mattresses. 2 mattresses went upstairs in my house and 1 downstairs. The 2 guys were amazing how they handled everything - I gave them $10 each. They really appreciate it. I'm sure some bottled water would also be appreciated.

The last time I moved, I had 2 movers who did an EXCELLENT job. I gave each of them $25. IMO, to NOT tip is being cheap.

Re: How much $ to tip movers?

It's a small load, so I say $20 each, and have some bottled water and/or soda available.  Maybe a little treat like some cookies or brownies.

For a full house move, I would provide lunch and have plenty of beverages.  Depending on the job they do, I would give at least $50 each.

When we have workmen in the house, I always put out food, drinks, etc.  It's not that big of an effort, and I think it makes for a friendly atmosphere and a better job.

Unless they broke something, I can't imagine not tipping. I would tip at least $20 a piece but probably $40 a piece.

Most movers expect a tip. They were just being polite.

Well when the man came to look at the house and give us the estimate we asked him how much to tip because we did not know and this was his answer.

Re: How much $ to tip movers?

I have moved a few times in my life...from apartment to another apartment.....I always give the movers $100.00 each....

Moving heavy furniture pieces is a difficult job...especially when there are steps involved...I can't imagine not tipping...and yes, they do expect a tip....

We paid them a 20% tip.   They get paid minimum wage or a little over that.  They deserve a tip.

Re: How much $ to tip movers?

I've moved a couple times in tthe last 15 years, and yes, I do tip. $20 apiece seems standard unless you have exceptionally large, heavy pieces or tricky doorways, etc.

I plan a move in september and am looking to find good movers. No appliances this time, just br and LR furniture and assorted boxes of dishes, christmas, pictures, etc.
