How do I post an inactive link? Please

@dooBdoo or  anyone

I use an IPad if that makes a difference.

Thank you 😊

If I understand your question correctly, you should be able to just copy and paste.

Switch the .com (or similar suffix) to the words DOT com, and that should be fine.

If it's inactive, people wouldn't be able to click onto it and get anywhere no matter how you posted it, @butterfly123

Other computer experts can explain it better, perhaps.

                @butterfly123, I think you want to post a URL but you don't want it to be "clickable" -- is that correct?

            In addition to @GingerPeach's method, you can copy/paste the complete URL  and then remove the part that precedes the domain name, and it will display as an inactive link we can't click but we can copy and paste.

Examples:

     The link posted this way is active, clickable:

https://www.qvc.com/Isaac-Mizrahi-Live!-Scallop-Hem-Turtleneck-Sweater.product.A310869.html

     And here’s the same link posted after editing out everything that precedes the domain name — it’s inactive, not clickable:

qvc.com/Isaac-Mizrahi-Live!-Scallop-Hem-Turtleneck-Sweater.product.A310869.html

           Note about editing:   If we first post a live link and then want to change it, and we go back, edit the post, and remove the first part of it...  the link probably still will be live because it's already embedded in the HTML on the website.

            The best way to fix it is to completely delete it and then add it back in.   Hope that makes sense.

@dooBdoo

You are very patient and kind to me. You are my interpreter and read my fuzzy mind. Your instructions are easy to follow and exactly what I needed.

I don’t want to have any other posts zapped because of copyright infringement.

Now, I must read what is included in copyright infringement. 🦋

Thank you intelligent and sweet friend 🌹

You should know that posting a link isn't an infringement of copyright protection.  It is the photos that carry the protection.   Some photos, of course, not all.

@GingerPeach

Thank you. Most articles have so much clickbait it is difficult to avoid.

I appreciate you 🌹

            You're welcome, @butterfly123, and thank you for always being so kind.❤️   Your mind isn't fuzzy!   Not at all.😊   I'm no expert, but this is what I've determined so far from observation.

            If we post a "live" link (clickable hyperlink) to a site with any other articles that might violate standards (usually political articles), those links might be removed.

            Also, if a live link takes us to any site that sells any products -- if they have a "shop" or "store" tab, a shopping cart icon, etc. -- it's highly likely it will be deemed inappropriate.

            It doesn't matter if they're direct competition with QVC.   The deletion message usually says "retail site link" or "outside link" or something like that.

            As an example, even linking to support info on a site like Apple might be deleted because the Apple site doesn't just provide support -- they also sell merchandise.

            Regarding copyright, it applies to some images and so far I'm not clear on how to determine that -- I hope someone can clarify for us?

            Copyright infringement also applies to articles.   I believe if we post an article in its entirety and the site from which we copied it has copyright and permissions limitations, it's likely to be removed.

            Usually the sites will use the "© 2018 [company name] All Rights Reserved" notation at the bottom of their pages, and/or they have a section that explains permissions for usage, copying and sharing their content on other sites.

            I've decided to avoid posting a complete article.   I paraphrase, or only quote excerpts, or just share the article title and the source and maybe a copy-and-paste link.   I'd rather do that and not run the risk of the post being removed.

            That might be clear as mud!   Maybe someone else who knows more about this can advise about copyright and permissions.
