Almost never, primarily because DH and I have very different taste in music. He's classic rock and I'm mostly classical, though this morning at work I was listening to a delightful mix of Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Jimmy Durante... it reminds me of my dad who was never without a radio.

Another thing I thought I'd get to in retirement and haven't. At Christmas I get through about 20 seasonal CD's that I purchased over the years. When I do fall yardwork, I blast a MeatLoaf CD (much to the chagrin of my neighbor) just so I keep moving.

I turn on my iPod first thing in the morning as I walk to the coffee pot and turn it off on my way back to the bed at night. Even if I have the TV on, I have the background music on. I know I'm showing my age by mentioning the iPod . I have it hooked up to my Bose and either listen to my playlists, an internet radio station, or Pandora. The sound level is dependent on what I'm doing. It's the best cleaning product I own, I crank it up loud and on a lively station when I have some heavy housework on my agenda.

I don't want to pay extra so I don't have Sirius or the like, and since smooth jazz was rudely yanked from free FM stations all those years ago, I just don't have the radio on as much as I used to, which was all the time.

I know I could get free Pandora with smooth jazz offerings, or even use my tv with the smooth jazz station, but those are barely half as engaging as a real station with an intelligent DJ. The music is not at all as compelling.

I do play CDs at times, and listen to some FM music stations, but I haven't found any that I can listen to all day.

Music is on every day in our house and any time we are in the car. If I am alone, I have Sirius radio on -- Water Colors -- soft jazz!
