Re: How Do You And Your DH's Tastes In Food Differ?

My DH has no interest in eating "healthy". He is a meat and potatoes/cookies/ice cream guy. It's a constant argument with us.

However, what is healthy anymore with all the food recalls?

I promise to remind myself every day that I am strong, courageous, and resilient.

Re: How Do You And Your DH's Tastes In Food Differ?

We are so different in what we like to eat and how we like to eat.  However, somehow we have worked it out.  Mainly because I just go along with what he wnats to eat which is not terrible at all but just can become very boring.  He likes to eat the same things over and over and over again.  And although I do not like things to be spicy, heavily seasoned or very salty, he likes things pretty much with like nothing on them!  Also, I tend to be way more adventurous when it comes to trying new things or trying new ways to fix old things!  He loves meat medium rare or rare --- yuck and double yuck!  Now, this, I cannot tolerate.  I must have all meats well done!  He is very regimented as to meals.  3 squares a day.  Me, I'm more of a one meal and then just nibble whenever you feel like it.  Actually, I don't even care for the most part whether I even eat one full meal.  I mostly just laugh at some of his food quirkiness!!!

I tease my husband that he’s a cheap date. We have a tradition where we cook each other’s birthday dinners. I have lobster and champagne. My husband always chooses meat loaf, mashed potatoes, and peas.

We tend to like the same foods.  Although, I prefer one-dish meals like soups, stews and casseroles – whereas, he leans more toward a separate piece of meat and some vegetables.  Neither of us like garlic or heavily spiced food.

We have similar tastes except he loves salmon and I think it smells like cat food. DH loves chocolate and, while I don't hate it, I can go without.

After 35 years, he has finally realized I will not eat or cook anymore venison.  I have realized that putting most vegetables on his plate is a waste of food.

Not an issue for us.

He did most of the cooking, and I'll eat almost anything.
