Houdini The Pup Gets Captured!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=655pq2eYC1Y

Thank goodnes for those that do what I can't.  They're special angels for sure!

Would you ever work with animals?

I was drawn to teach but also would have loved to be a vet.  The problem would be I couldn't have all of them!!!!Smiley Happy

@ECBG I love stories like this. Those people that do rescues are angels on earth. If I ever won the lottery, there would be no more homeless, unloved animals.

@ECBG

Thank you for posting!  I am so concerned for all animals, in harms way.

This is what I do whenever I can, it can break your heart, but I can't turn away.

The groups I work with are all up and running, BIG caring hearts ♥️.

Doing what I can from home, but due to health issues I can't go out.

I am sad, and this clip you posted gave me a smile. Smiley Happy

Re: Houdini The Pup Gets Captured!

I, too wanted to be a veterinarian when I was younger, then I realized something.

You not only work with animals, and give them their shots to keep them healthy, but you have to do surgery, and not just spay and neuter.

You also deal with people.

Could you deal with a pup that was sick with parvo, or had heartworm, because the owner did not get it vaccinated?

Or, how about an animal is sick, and you know that you could treat it, but the owner refuses the treatment.

You can't override the owner.

You have to follow the laws, which can leave your hands tied as to what you can do.

There is doctor/patient confidentiality, so there's that to deal with too.

"Anonymously" report?

The owner could come back with, "How did anybody find out, when only the vet knew?", and then you could be in trouble.

And lastly, there is loosing an animal, whether it is from them dying on the table, or euthanasia, because it is old and sick.

Or, you know that an animal is dying, and the kindest thing to do would be to put them down, but the owner refuses to do so.

No, being a vet isn't all puppy kisses and kitten purrs.

Being a vet can be very hard on you emotionally, and leave you angry, frustrated, and yes, in tears.

Plus, can't give everybody a discount on your services, because you have all of those student loans to pay off, plus, you need to have something to live off of.

If you are working in a clinic, then you have to make money for them, and your boss may not agree with, or even allow you to do something that you want to do for an animal.

Open your own shop?

You are going to need staff, and you are going to need to bring in enough money to pay them a decent wage, so again, you won't be able to give everybody a discount on your services.

No, being a vet isn't all fun and games and easy.

Having a love for animals is just one part of being a vet, an important part, but it is so much more than just that.

ANd the worst question of all.Could you put a beloved pet down because it needed expensive treatment that it's owner cannot afford?

@Plaid Pants2. All the reasons you stated is why I didn't not want to  be one one.  I thank God there are men and women who do want this career .  You are so right it isn't all kisses and purrs,  and I know I could never be able to do the tough stuff , live an ska so much .  I cannot even bear to watch those horrible commericals with animal abuse , I cannot turn the channel fast enough even if in another room,  I hear that music and I run in a fast as I can to get it off !   The people who are rescuing these animals are doing Gods work , they truly are angels and I wish them many , many blessing.  Does the heart good to see that people really care for innocent fur babies who have no choice or voice. I pray the find forever homes,  with genuine animal lovers.
