Re: Hotter than Hot at the Back Fence for August 2017

yep. Right on the bottle it says avoid prolonged exposure to sun light.   He did go check on getting tint on his windows in front. He knows the guy really well.  The guy said you know for $100 I could have saved you from this. He then proceeded to drop cortisone 1o on his arm and told him to rub it in.  They couldn't find a mutual time before Wednesday.   I guess the sun was a blessing. He has been going to do something for those windows for as long as he has had the truck.  He is supposed to get a new one in February.   He wanted to wait it out. No way I said.  We will never get you protected enough.

Believe me me if that new truck doesn't have tinted windows, it soon will have.   I have spoken. Lol

Good for you Betty - just remind Merle that YOU are the real smart on re these things. Men can be so stubborn at times, Not that women do the same thing? ! LOL!! Seriously he is fortunate to have you at his side - Let us know when those windows get tinted.

Getting ready for church in slow gear - the return of the heat and humidity is so difficult for me - It really wipes me out and there are times during the day I have to just sit - sometimes I doze depending on who else is in the house.

Hope one and all have a great day.

Re: Hotter than Hot at the Back Fence for August 2017

I had fun at Fiona's 2nd birthday party yesterday - it was a small gathering.  That child reminds me of me when I was little.  Lord is she independent and headstrong.  At one point she had a meltdown in the backyard - she needed a nap and my middle sister tried to console her.  I told my sister, trust me when I tell you - she needs to get it out of her system and then she will calm down.  She was better after she had a nap.

It was back to work for me today.  Suffice it to say, by mid afternoon I was wishing I was home.  I swear I work with women who live to miscommunicate :-)

Re: Hotter than Hot at the Back Fence for August 2017

Merle thought his appt with the doctor was today but I got a reminder call that it is actually tomorrow (Wednesday).  That is the same day as window tinting. So we are going to take truck to shading place in the morning and leave it and then drive to dermatologist in the car.  That way we don't have to worry about being on time.  Doc is not going to be happy the way his arm looks and his lip bleeds from the  sunburn.   Right now we are experiencing thunder showers.

Our  neighbor started painting exterior windows.  Wish they'd started a few weeks ago if that is what stArted the rain.

Re: Hotter than Hot at the Back Fence for August 2017

I need to go to the funeral home tonight and I'm feeling nervous about it.

In 2009 my company offered a buy-out to retiree eligible people as a means to cut down on employees.  A bunch of people jumped at it.  One in particular did it because there was a veiled threat about future retiree health insurance.  Then health care reform happened and this lady came back as a contractor from 2010 through the end of 2016.  She didn't know what to do with herself at home so I figured it was her way of enjoying her retirement.

Well I got news on Monday that she passed.  Was only 64 years old.  Went to the doctor like a good patient, did all her screenings etc.  She was feeling like she had an upset stomach or like she was getting the flu for a couple of days starting on 8/21.  By that Friday, her stomach was really hurting her so her husband said, that's it - off to the doctor you go.  She went to the doctor on 8/25, he took vitals, palpated her stomach (like they do sometimes) and found it hard as a rock.  Off to ER with you he said.  She went to ER, they did imaging, found lots of tumors that started on ovaries.  She was admitted and they stabilized her, had an idea of what was going on and was formulating a game plan.

Her beloved husband stayed with her Friday night into Saturday when she and doctors said, go home, get some sleep.  Saturday night her husband gets a call - she's taken a turn for the worse and she dies.

I don't know if he got there in time.

For this woman, who was my counterpart on many a projects, I thank my God that she didn't suffer untold poking and prodding and treatment.

For her husband, having experienced 2 unexpected deaths in my life so far (praying the Lord won't see the need to give me another one), I know what he is feeling and there isn't a thing I can say to make it better.

Re: Hotter than Hot at the Back Fence for August 2017

I'm sorry about your co-worker.  It's such a shock when they go so fast. I'm happy she didn't need to go through a bunch of treatment but the shock of her death is hard.

Ive come down with a summer cold.  No one else in the family has it.   Can't imagine where I picked it up.  I need a nose bucket.

The dr prescribed a different med for Merle's ear.  He said it was up to him whether to bandage. Then the nurse bandaged it.   I'm hoping this cream isn't too disgusting looking and he can go without a bandage. In any case, the mummy wrap is over.

we both drove to the tinting place to drop off the truck and then I returned him back to his truck.  I thought it was funny that he hadn't called to see if I got home.   I just picked up the phone a minute ago and there are four missed calls.  He didn't come home to check so I figure he thinks I went to sleep.  I can't figure out why the phone didn't ring.  It might be because his ear piece is on the kitchen table.  Hope he's careful cause the police are out in force.

We live within two hours from the big car show in Auburn.  They have a big Dussenberg they expect to get 3 million for.

Back to dripping nose.

Re: Hotter than Hot at the Back Fence for August 2017

I paid my respects last night and frankly was relieved when I saw the closed casket.  The funeral home was packed - this woman was well known for many years at the company.  It was lovely to see folks who retired years and years ago, come together to say goodbye.

Re: Hotter than Hot at the Back Fence for August 2017

Sorry to hear about the loss of your former co-worker.I just received word the other day we had the same thing happen - always shocking. She was Secretary  to several of our publishers and ALWAYS  supported who was in that off - she NEVER divulged anything to anyone. I really liked her - she was there a little over 20 years!! She never had children and had a great husband Ted - he passed away in 1988 I believe - way too young for sure - cannot recall what happened  too him. She had lived in several great places in the USA as Ted always had great jobs - cannot recall what he did, but they did well. I heard from a couple that they knew her health had not been the best but had no clue this would happen. We have lost several long time employees at that newspaper in very recent years - so sad. .Guess I had best get a move on and remember that tomorrow is September. Will try to not forget it.

Hope all had a good day.
