I'm hosting an 80th birthday party next week for my husband. I'm having trouble getting my thoughts together about the order of events at the party.
1. I want to make a few remarks and introduce my family.
2. I made up a slide show I'd like to show.
3. There's the eating part.
4. I have a game I want to play "How well do you know Ron?" on paper.
5. I'd like people around the room to be able to stand up and say funny things about my husband.
6. Cake and coffee.
7. I've gotten some notes from old friends around the country I'd like to read outloud.
Can someone help me with putting these parts of the party into some order? TIA.

Why a slide show?

@seaswirl I like the order of events you listed in your post. My only suggestion would be to switch the cake and coffee to last. The organized part of the event would be completed before the cake. People could enjoy visiting and mingling informally.

How you are doing the eating part should affect how you time it. Is it a sit down meal, a buffet, meals eaten on people's laps? Will it be served in a different room than the other activities?
I like your activities, especially the slide show.
BIRTHDAY CAKE and coffee should be last.

There's nothing wrong with a slide show.
You may want to flash it throughout the party instead of having everyone sit through it at a certain time.
It does strike up continual conversation between guests especially between those who may not know one another, as it continues to flash.
You could stop it during speeches if necessary.
Yourorder is just fine, with cake at the end of the party.
Happy Birthday 🥳 Ron.
Good Luck hosting @seaswirl
