The J.M. Smucker Co. has initiated a withdrawal notice for select Hostess Ding Dongs products because of the potential presence of mold.
The recalled Hostess Ding Dongs were distributed to retailers across the U.S.
Consumers can use the following information to determine whether they have the recalled Ding Dongs:
All recalled Hostess Ding Dong products have the best-by dates of Aug. 30, 2025, Aug. 31, 2025, Sept. 1, 2025, Sept. 2, 2025, and Sept. 3, 2025.

The J.M. Smucker Co. says that a mechanical issue in the manufacturing process may have created “conditions that could support the development of mold in the product prior to the expiration date.”
The company resolved the issue and thus only five lots of product have been impacted, according to the recall notice. At this time, no other Hostess or The J.M. Smucker Co. products are being recalled.
It’s not clear if these contaminated Hostess Ding Dong products ever made it to retailers or if The J.M. Smucker Co. withdrew them before hitting shelves. However, at least one store,Top's has alerted customers to this recall.
Therefore, if you have the Hostess Ding Dong products that may contain mold, you should not consume them. Instead, throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund or replacement.

Ding Dongs can grow mold despite their preservatives if there is a defect in the manufacturing or packaging process that allows moisture and mold spores to get inside.
The company's investigation confirmed that a mechanical issue with a piece of manufacturing equipment led to conditions that supported mold development in the product before its expiration date.
