Hi oznell ❤️❤️❤️

@Oznell The cake just came out of the oven.  I couldn't resist a piece right away!  (The colors aren't exactly as they appear in real life.   I don't have Ina's photo team!)

Three cats or more.  Any number is a perfect number of cats.  There is nothing like a cat.  Lucky you!

Re: @Homegirl - missing you ❤️❤️❤️

Almost too pretty to eat, and I bet it's scrumptious!

@GingerPeach. Kiku is beautiful!   I'm glad you have a new little furry critter to love.

Actually, I've been looking outside of California, to get more for my money once I retire.  Most of my family live in the Boston area, so I've checked out a few communities near there.  I don't want a townhouse, and most newer communities are offering stand alone homes with two car garages, full basements, a deck and sometimes a patio as well.  My minimum needs are for a good sized kitchen and dining/family room area, two bedrooms, two baths, and an office.  Love that they also have clubhouses, gyms, and more!

Enjoy!  No fresh figs for us again until next summer.  😔

The cake looks delicious.   Did I mention that my fig tree is suddenly full?   Taking some to my daughter tomorrow.  Then I'll have to decide what to do with the rest, next week.  Have never done jams or preserving....don't have all the equipment!

@september

My very favorite place of all anywhere is in Maine: Highland Green.  Simply gorgeous.  https://highlandgreenlifestyle.com/  Depending on your needs, it may or may not be too far from the Boston area.

I haven't looked into the Boston over-55 communities but that is a city I came to love when my DD went to college there.

I need everything you listed (except the basement).  People think I am "downsizing," but that's far from the truth.

Re: Hi Drythe ❤️❤️❤️

@GingerPeach. Maine is beautiful but too remote for me.  That location looks like it's further north than the northernmost Maine location for me (Portland).

I'm looking at southern NH, about 30 minutes north of Boston, and not too far from NYC or DC..whether by car,rail, or air.  Public transit on the East Coast is fast and inexpensive.

Want to be close to travel hubs, since this is in my plans once I retire.

Re: Hi september ❤️❤️❤️

@september

I forgot to ask whether you have looked at 55places.com.

It lists over-55 communities by state and it's currently showing about 53 communities near Boston alone.

There is another site called topretirements.com which also includes the continuing care communities.  That site is a bit "clunkier" to use, but each is a good starting place.

You may already have been aware of these sites.
