@AnikaBrodie Thinking of you and Ed. I hope he is back at rehab. Hugs!
@Sassy7356 and Everyone
Ed returned to BV Rehabilitation late Monday morning (Dec. 1) by ambulance after eight days in the hospital. He was seen briefly by Rehab staff on Tuesday morning for evaluation, and he returned (his choice) on Tuesday afternoon to ride a rehab bike for a few minutes. Both I and rehab staff know he is still motivated. He lost so much he had gained prior to his hospital stay. In the hospital he had many tests and procedures and his oxygen and blood pressure levels were low every day.
Now that he is back at rehab his levels are monitored closely and he is on oxygen full time, 24/7 for now. He is also weighed daily and he has lost apx. 13 lbs. since late October. His appetite is still very poor and he is on a modified ground diet with thickened drinks.
I visit him daily for apx. 4 hours at a time. He still uses his Jazzy wheelchair and sits on it for hours at a time. He asks to be put in bed when he gets really tired ... and that is often. He does sleep at various intervals throughout the day which is important in his recovery. Our faith and hope remains strong and our goal is to have him home before Christmas Day.

@1Snickers wrote:Good afternoon! It's been raining all day and I've just finished Christmas cards. It took awhile to find them and the stickers, then letting Snickers out multiple times took time. I write a note in each. Many friends and relatives have moved or passed a way. Sad!
The grown grandkids are always moving so I have to ask my son about their addresses often.
Then he sent me a text with photos about a raccoon that broke into a liquor store and drank so much it passed out. The animal control waited for it to regain consciousness before releasing it. The store was wrecked and many bottles broken. I hope it didn't drink glass!
Rain is gone but it's low 40s and feels like snow.
@Sweet Caroline 1 Hooray! You got snow!
Keep warm y'all!

Hey there @1Snickers, I didn't get any snow that I'm aware of but the northern Alabama/Tennessee line may have. I would have gone outside and danced a jig!
A funny story about the Raccoon getting into the liquor store. He probably didn't have to drink a lot but I wonder if the alcohol caused it to break into dancing to tear the store up so bad. Or panicked because he couldn't get out. Poor thing, I hope they released him with a couple of aspirin.
I know just what you mean by "it feels like snow". I can feel it in the air. There's no mistaking it. And then you see flurries.
I use to love recieving Christmas Cards. I don't get them anymore. When I was little, mother used tape and made a Christmas tree design on the door with the cards. You could open them and read them while hanging there. A sweet memory! ![]()

I don't why but this reminds me of my mother and grandmothers Christmas decor but as soon as I saw it I did.
We had a nice ride to my sisters today . Road was pretty cleared off of snow but still a few icy patches. In town the roads were still slushy.
We had fun chatting all the way there, the more people in the car the more fun it is. My sister was so happy to see her granddaughter. We just sat around and chatted for awhile then tried playing a dice game but my sister struggled with that. I brought some Texas sheet cake and a loaf of a pumpkin bread for her and her friends to chat with. I was sad because before we went to find Marcy the lady that works there said none of her three sons came to see her on Thanksgiving and she was sad, in fact they haven't visited for awhile. Life is tough. At least she has company there and gets plenty to eat. They have many activities there that I know she attends because they post pictures online for relatives to see. She likes being around people so that is good. My brother who went today with me and myself are loners and don't like being around people so in a facility like that we'd be in our room all the time. She is being looked after so I am grateful for that.
@hullie, It sounds like there was goodness in the whole trip. I'm sorry that her sons don't go to see her often enough. They may regret it one day. I'm so glad that Marcy was able to go. I hope that she'll go back often to see her. I'm happy hearing about the trip!

@lynnie61 wrote:@Sweet Caroline 1 Those heavenly balls sound delicious. Do you have a full recipe? If not don't worry, I'll try to google!
It's your lucky day @lynnie61, Here is the recipe for the Heavenly Balls! ![]()
Heavenly Balls
1/2 box vanilla waffers, crushed
1can Eagle Brand sweet condensed milk
2 cups chopped pecans
1 cup coconut
Mix together and roll into balls
Roll balls in confectioners sugar
Very important: The mixture is very sticky and I find it much easier to roll into balls when refrigerating the mixture first. You choose the size of the balls that you want the confections to be.
Enjoy! ![]()

@DREAMON Tonight we are to dip below 0 to -10 with gusty winds. Gotta love my MN weather. It is too early for it to be so cold.
Friends, The weather here in my neck of the woods is extra cold for this time of year too. And now we have a lot of rain in the forcast making it hard to use the scooter and cleaning the porch windows and light fixtures before putting out the Christmas decor. But if Santa can do it, I can do it too!
