You said it, sister!  I'm the youngest in my famil of seven kids, so the last to retire. Navigating through Medicare and social security has been a full time job, but so far, so good!  I hope to do all things on your list, @CalminHeart ...right now, I'm just happy to drink my coffee in the morning in the kitchen, and not a to-go cup!  Thanks for the warm welcome, I enjoy your posts very much.  Have a good evening.

Hi and welcome.  I too live in the Philly suburbs (Montgomery County).  I didn't realize there were so many Philly ladies.

Hello and welcome to our neighborhood and I mean really our neighborhood.
And to the Q neighborhood too!

@Blondie59  My husband and I wish there was a class we knew of on filling out and filing paperwork for retiring, and SS, Medicare and the lot. lol. I think we did get flyers, and mailers of retirement classes, but never took issue with it. We should have. What a quagmire of paperwork. But, once you are though, and understand better, it gets better every year.  Medicare, signing up, and benefits were the most confusing to us.  Now we are whizzes at it. Our problem was, my husband didn't plan on retirement date. He was a little over 70, came home in October after riding transit for over 30 years, and said , "I'm retiring".  The long 1.5 hour trip to Silicon Valley, the changing aerospace company, he was done he had 2 months to do it all.

Congrats and welcome!

I am another Philly resident, although I like to go to the suburbs for shopping, especially at the KoP mall!  I do like to visit NYC a lot, but at this point in life, I will never live there, because I need a yard for my dogs.

I shopped on QVC for a few decades before I even looked at these boards.

Enjoy all your new experiences!

Welcome Blondie59!

I'm born/raised in NY (Westchester) but have family in south Jersey and used to spend a lot of time in Philly.  My cousin retired from CHOP.  I think the last time I was there was when I chaperoned a 7th grade year end class trip to Philadelphia.

I worked in corporate for 30 years until a very large re-org.  Took 2 years off (great severance package) while I was trying to "find" myself and got a job as secretary to the Principal in a 7-12 school.  I retired from there in 2018.

After I retired, I moved to Lewes, DE, for 6 years and, unfortunately, moved back to NY to be closer to family last year.  Not thrilled with my decision, but here I am.

Look forward to reading your posts here.
