I have a dog that for the past year did not go on my sofa. He has a dog bed.
All of a suddent the past few weeks, I come home from work, and I could see my pillows are a mess and that he jumped up on the sofa.
Any tricks or tips on how to keep him off sofa??
He has a nice dog bed. He is ruining my sofa while I am at work.

Do you keep all family members off the sofa?

I have a shock mat for my dogs. They come in different sizes, it's battery operated and the shock level is adjustable from low to high. Thicker fur on dogs will need the setting up higher. The brand I have is ScatMat. It works and once your dog jumps up on one then it will make it not want to do it again so eventually you won't need to use the mat anymore. Dog will be trained to stay off the couch.
The ScatMat isn't going to cause any harm to your dog. I sat down on it myself to see how it felt and it was like sitting down on pins and needles...very uncomfortable.

cover the sofa with a cover while you're away, washable one, and when home, keep him in your lap. Maybe he needs a new/bigger dog bed. If he spit up or something while you were gone, he wants a clean bed. Or since your scent is all over the couch possibly, he wants to be near you that way. It's probably warmer than something drafty on the floor.

It is NOT a question of just letting him lay on the sofa - The problem is when he jumps up, he squishes all the cushions and the pillows. They get out of shape and lady from furmiture store said the sofa i getting ruined.
He has a $400 memory foam dog bed. RIght in front of the Sofa

That's a hard one, I understand & wish you luck in finding a solution....maybe a new thick cushion dog bed with a heat option.

When our furniture had to be replaced we put all leather in . . . it was just easier!

Do other family members mess up the sofa?
No one should tolerate any family member destroying
their furniture or home.
qvc chick, can you set a boundary in your home that doesn't allow the dog in the room with a sofa while you are out?
