On the plane back to NC....another non-stop 6 hrs. This time dh coughed up $ for internet on plane to keep me busy. I’m used to doing 10 things at once & sitting still w/ a travel magazine for the 6 hr. flight to Seattle left me antsy.

DD woke us at 4AM (you heard right) since flight was at 8:30AM...wanted to be at airport 2 hrs. before. She has lots to do before tomorrow morning since SIL is having surgery on rotator cuff and will be in a sling for quite awhile. She wanted to get food shopping, laundry, her gym class done, etc. so she can be w/ him at hospital and next 4 days after anesthesia. May have mentioned he’s a bodybuilder....that’s the price for looking like a hunk. Still use that word?

The beagles did well at the kennel (the vet looked in on Old Sadie a few times) & we checked, as well. I wasn’t keen on leaving a 14 yr. old dog at the kennel, but took her for a thorough checkup before we left and she was A OK. We’ll pick them up tomorrow morning. The house is always eerie and quiet the night we drop them off & the day before we can bring them home. Pet owners know what I mean.

So, this completes my travelogue (w/ photos included). I’m sure feeling that 70th birthday now!!! The hiking, ferry ride yesterday to Bainbridge Island, walking & more walking, fish throwing in Pike Market...Oh Geez, almost forgot the huge Nordstrom tour (headquarters in Seattle). DD knows her way through the store blindfolded (learned her stuff at Mama’s knee 😂)...NO A/C....hottest July in Seattle in years & sleeping au naturel under a ceiling fan dreaming about how cold I can get my house in NC w/o burning up the unit....maybe hoping I could go back 25 yrs. and blame it on menopause. Lol

After a hot bath and a good night’s sleep tonite, unpacking tomorrow, loving up the 2 best furry members of the family & maybe watching Friday’s Young & Restless, all should be back to normal.

Normal? Maybe too easy going a description for my week. How about back on schedule?

With the changes in climate, people living in places that were never uncomfortably hot in the past are going to have to rethink the need for AC.  Santa Fe is the same way.  At over 6,000ft in altitude, many homes weren't air conditioned but in recent years they've had many days in mid 90s, so new homes are built with central AC.

Rotator cuff is brutal but I'm assuming he's young enough to heal completely.

Will you be sharing any pictures?

I know what you mean about the vet.  I never take vacations but I had to board mine a couple of years ago when I had surgery.   The house is not the same without them and as much as I worried about them, those vet techs have known them since pups and spoil them probably better than I do.    But they are always glad to be home.  Me too,

They are gone now, so it's just me & the cats, I can leave them alone for a weekend at a time if necessary,  DD can always check on them in an emergency.   I don't know if they even realize i've been gone when I run to the casino for an overnight.

@software  Ain't that the beauty of having cats?  (Notice I didn't say "owning.")  I leave for work at 7:30am, go to the gym after work, and get home between 7:30 and 8:00pm.  My big fuzzy fella just sleeps under a bed until I get home.......no problem.  Of course, once I open the back door, he's all over me and wants my full attention!

I miss having a dog but I'm enjoying my freedom of early morning and late evenings walks.

@Shanus  Sounds like you had a great time here.....yes, we have little in the way of air conditioning  here in Seattle other than fans....I am laying here in my bed sweating right now. The house is 85 degrees.....it is 90 degrees out side.  Thank God for fans and electricity to run them or I would surly not survive!

@Kachina624  Yes. The a/c companies there will be flooded with calls. DD said she’ll probably put install it over the winter so all set if we go back next year. DH wants to go to Victoria instead & maybe only 3 days to visit with her. We’ll see. At least her guest room will be cooler. 😜

@2blonde  It was nice to celebrate away. I think it took the sting out of the number 7 0.
