At Walmart and they had the best looking produce I have seen anywhere for about 3 years.  The food shelves were fully stocked and even the meat case had enough to chose from.   Things looked normal again.  Some prices were decent and the beef prices were down a tad.

I pray it all stays that way.

Re: Grocery shopping yesterday

Walmart has really improved the quality of their produce in the last few  years.

lucky you!  i live rural, and unfortunatley WM is THE main food source for several small communities here. Produce is laughable, always empty spots in the meat, and frozen food sections.   if you see something that you want, and decide not to get, don't rely on it will be there next week.

last week there was not a head of cabbage to be found.  last month it was celery. head scratcher.

i hesitated on frozen turkey breakfast patties, and now they are just gone.  entire pasta isle was wiped out for about 2 months, and forget buying the lower priced soda like shasta.  huge gaps in the soda isle.  i could go on and on.  it is getting a little better on some things.

oh, heres one for you, i was looking for dry lentils, and split peas. couldn't find them, asked a employee who looked it up, nope, they don't carry either one. really????  frustrating.

Re: Grocery shopping yesterday

I don't understand all the empty shelves. I live in western NY and except for the beginning of covid, the shelves here are always pretty much full. There are no shortages of anything. My sister lives outside of Mobile and she says the same for down there. But, another sister lives in Wisconsin and she said their shelves are low. I jusat don't get it.

@fingerlakesny : Its called the Supply Chain; in Northern Arizona it is still very broken and has been since beginning of Pandemic. My shopping choices are Wal-Mart and Safeway; both have many empty shelves.  For example, in Safeway the bakery shelves are 85% empty, can't even buy baguettes.

@Imaoldhippie   Same here.  My Walmart has been stocked well for awhile now.   Definitly back to normal including no one running around with a mask on. We need normal again.   People are tired of all this.

Re: Grocery shopping yesterday

I picked up a large (for me) grocery order from WM last weekend and they had everything on my list except for one bakery item that they rarely have.

Re: Grocery shopping yesterday

The shelves are full everywhere I have shopped in recent months and that's in RI, CT and my own state MA.  Grocery stores bounced back over a year ago but the myths continue.  Excluding baby formula, of course.  The larger Wal-Mart stores have had excellent quality in produce and groceries for years.  I particularly like the big bags of frozen vegetables, the ones that are flash frozen with no sauses.  And the bags of frozen fruit.  Maybe Ill do a Wal-Mart run tomorrow or Tuesday.  I generally grocery shop online and have them delivered but occasionally I like shopping in a store.

Re: Grocery shopping yesterday

Prices are high....I have been shocked by how much they have increased at Walmart. The lettuce is orangey/brown.  Other produce is hit and miss.  Some areas products are depleted, again it is hit/miss.   I'm better off with big box stores, but still much higher.  I'm working on getting use to the new norm.  Same with gas, etc.
