@lolakimono That brought back a sweet memory for me when I was teaching. Part of my job was to work with small groups of kindergarten kids that were socially or emotionally not ready for the large classroom. We met early in the morning for an hour. They were always younger than their classmates and just needed a jump start to their confidence. I introduced puppets in my groups to encourage kids to talk and interact with others. It worked like a charm over time. One day a little girl said to me... " I think I'm ready to make new friends now"... ( yes..I teared up ). She took a puppet back to the classroom to sit with her during the day. Eventually she got her comfort level back and passed her puppet buddy on to another child.
I will always be grateful for the chance to work with little kids.....Everyday was a good day.

Thank you for sharing!
I see a lot of "morning meeting" slides online, where there is a quote of the day, a riddle or joke, perhaps a picture of the day, a song or video, etc. It seems to be a thing in elementary, but I don't know if it's due to the pandemic or it's always been a thing.
During virtual teaching, I would often sign on about 5-8 minutes early and my early birds would check in with a story, maybe a quick on/off of the camera, or talk about their weekend. One student said "you're my only teacher who greets me when I sign in."
I don't know how you could not greet students, but apparently it was not the norm.
