Greet the Day with Gratitude

May be an image of one or more people and text that says 'TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD THAT HAPPENED το YOU TODAY [NO MATTER HOW SMALL IT MAY SEEM]'

We do this often at school.

Would anyone like to go first?  Cat Very Happy

@lolakimono   I do this every morning before getting out of bed....I am grateful for the opportunity to be on this planet for another day.

I am grateful for your posts that never go to the dark side....fun and fashion, kindness and consideration.  Thank you for your contributions ....they are a reprieve from the challenges that our county faces.

@phoenixbrd

Thank you for getting us started and thank you for the kind words!

I am grateful to have a day with NOTHING scheduled, to do as I please, whether it be tackle a project, read for pleasure, cook, start a quilt, or just check in online.

It's a poor air quality day so whatever I do will be spent indoors.

Thinking of our friend @Bird mama today at her vet appointment.

Re: Greet the Day with Gratitude

@lolakimono   That brought back a sweet memory for me when I was teaching.  Part of my job was to work with small groups of kindergarten kids that were  socially or emotionally not ready for the large classroom.  We met early in the morning for an hour.  They were always younger than their classmates and just needed a jump start to their confidence.  I introduced puppets in my groups to encourage kids to talk and interact with others.  It worked like a charm over time.  One day a little girl said to me... " I think I'm ready to make new friends now"...    ( yes..I teared up ).  She took a puppet back to the classroom to sit with her during the day.  Eventually she got her comfort level back and passed her puppet buddy on to another child.
I will always be grateful for the chance to work with little kids.....Everyday was a good day.

It's so important for students to look on the bright side.  Good for you helping them along.

I think I would also ask them what they did good today to help build up their self-esteem.  Even if it's only coming to school that day.

Thank you for sharing!

I see a lot of "morning meeting" slides online, where there is a quote of the day, a riddle or joke, perhaps a picture of the day, a song or video, etc.  It seems to be a thing in elementary, but I don't know if it's due to the pandemic or it's always been a thing.

During virtual teaching, I would often sign on about 5-8 minutes early and my early birds would check in with a story, maybe a quick on/off of the camera, or talk about their weekend.  One student said "you're my only teacher who greets me when I sign in."

I don't know how you could not greet students, but apparently it was not the norm.

Re: Greet the Day with Gratitude

Well got a new car two days ago and someone just hit it in a parking lot and left no name but you know I'm not upset, I am grateful for learning to let go. I couldn't control what happened and I'm not going to waste a second of the life I have left being angry.

What a grand idea, and I wish it had been there when I came along!  I missed the cut off age wise for starting 1st grade by a month, still the school insisted I start, then I tested out of the 1st grade and on to the 2nd.  A shy, only child, no experience with children, and 2 years behind.  Thank you for giving!

I’m grateful for teachers like you and @lolakimono

And ever grateful for DH.

@lolakimono    I think that is such an important thing to do.  I'm sure your kids really appreciated you.  My granddaughter's teacher did the same thing and it meant a lot to so many kids.  Especially this past year.

Thankful I raised a great son and daughter. I also raised Brisk, my mischievous golden retriever. Going on 13 years now. Lucky to have him each day.🙂

Lucky to have all my friends in the bee hive.❤
