I spent 1/1/2 hours inside the DMV yesterday to get my license renewal. The info online implied that one must get an ID, so I ordered a certified birth certificate and got many papers together. When I got to the window, I was told I did not have to get an ID if I didn't want one, so I didn't.
Of course, I didn't sleep Wednesday night, so eyes were a bit blurry, felt awful, but not the first time I have had to go somewhere after a sleepless night. I slept wonderfully last night off and on from 6 until noon today, could have stayed in bed and done the same all day.
I knew I wouldn't pass the eye test, though I could read lines, but when asked to read with just my left eye, told her it was mess, surgery is due this year, so was given a form and will have to go back after surgery, I was given a two-month temporary license, doubt I will have an appointment for the surgery by then, what a pain. The eye clinic is a zoo, no one returns calls, so will stay on the phone until I have been given a date for surgery.
I was to see my cardiology Doctor on Thursday, fortunately, I checked for messages and found one only after I was almost ready to go, to hear that the appointment was cancelled, could I come in on Friday, told her no due to another appointment. Last evening, he phoned as I am not able to do a video conference, so will now have to add an EKG and another blood test to the yearly tests I get, in May when I see my PC.
He mentioned ablation again, don't know why since as long as the med works, no need for surgery. I am sure at some point the med will stop working, but I am not going for surgery as long as it is working. I couldn't discern much of what he was saying as he had a bad case of laryngitis.
It will be nice not to have the heat on when the weather warms as it will bring down the atrocious power bill. We use the heat in the bedroom and kitchen only until we leave those rooms, and for a short while in the den in the mornings, and DH uses a heater bought here instead of the room heater, and the bill was $900, over $1,000 when DD and fiance were here. I can't even imagine what a family of more than two people using all rooms in the house would pay monthly.
Hoping everyone has a pleasant weekend.
Dear @mousiegirl, I'm sorry that things haven't been going smoothly. A big hassle indeed. To get a driver's lisence renewal here in B'ham, you go to the Court House, turn in your expiring lisence, they take your picture and ask if you need to update any information such as address, then you get a temporary lisence and your new one comes in the mail shortly after. You don't get an eye test. You can also get a non-drivers lisence to use as identification. I guess each state has it's own way of doing things.
I'm floored over the amount of your electric bill for heat. I have a furnace that uses gas heat. My monthly gas bill in the winter is from between 100.00 and upper 200.00's each month. That depends on how much freezing weather we have. Some people have all electric homes but I don't know what they pay. It's shocking what we pay for things from state to state, all in the same country. I have a 4 ton air conditioner that will come on, cool things off in a jiffy and turn back off. People with smaller air conditioners will have their units running and running and hardly ever turn off which will give them huge electric bills in the summer. The humidity here causes the ac units to work very hard to remove the water from the air and cool the air.
I hope that you can get you medical appointments sorted out and taken care of. Take care dear friend, Love ya!

@mousiegirl I can't imagine having electric/gas bills so high. I think it is too much when our electric bill is $200 in the summer. Our gas is averages out to about $50/month and we do an even pay on that bill.
What a pain with the DMV. I hope your eye situation is resolved soon.

@hullie Your nieces are taking such good care of you and Bijou. How lucky to have them so close plus being willing to help.
The lasagna dinner sounds so good. I bet it was very tasty. We just finished up some lasagna soup that I had made earlier in the week. We have that with some garlic bread/toast and a pot of it makes for a couple dinners.
The winds here are wicked. But, I think yours have been higher. No need to comb my hair if going out.
Take good care of yourself.

@Tissyanne I had cardioversion twice and they thought my heart was back in rhythm. Both times it only lasted a few days. Then, I had the ablation and have been good since July 2023.
