@haddon9 That must be the system we are getting today.  Snow, freezing rain and rain.  It will be a mess!  Hope you get your power back soon.  🤞

@Lilysmom1 Thanks!  Power came on around 2am.

DH had purchased a generator a few years ago.  It's not quite a whole house one but it's one of those that you have to start yourself as opposed to one that goes on automatically.  This is the first time we used it.

Anyway after a lot of trial & error he got it working...yay we had light!  However we have two sump pumps in the basement and one wouldn't go on.  In that corner we were getting flooded so we for several hours we were filling a shop vac with water then dumping it into the other sump pump area in the basement.

What a fun night! ....not! LOL!

@Mindy D Yes!  I got it when I was going to my mother's condo in Fl and I wasn't sure how good her WiFi was.  We needed to sell the condo and I needed to have internet connection.

So I sitll have it and it's $5.00 a month on my Verizon bill.  However since we had a mutli-phone package they took $5.00 off so it became an even wash.

@Luvsmyfam

Hope you got out of your driveway safely and got your errands done, and arrived back home safe and sound.

It's always good for a person to know their limits and to get help with tasks that they don't feel up to doing themselves.  Just because others can doesn't mean everyone can or even should.

If another storm is expected your way, hope you stay snug and comfortable in your home and can safely wait it out until it is over.

@haddon9 Our storm turned into rain.  If it freezes quick, it will be very icy.

We put in a whole home generator for which I am thankful.  I am glad you got yours going.  The weather is so extreme these days that you need a plan B.

@Lilysmom1 I hope it doesn't turn into ice.  I think that ice is worse than snow depending on the conditions.  We're supposed to get another sotrm in a few days...fingers corssed it won't be too bad!

The storm that is currently moving east covered us with 12" of heavy, wet snow yesterday over ice. Now the high winds are causing drifts. More snow due in today and Friday. Ugh.

I usually plow myself out even though I'm in my 70s. But not this time. My brother arranged for someone to plow for me, bless his heart.

We are supposed to get another 10" tonight. I just got plowed out of the 12".

I don't live where there is snow now but I do remember growing up in the northeast my parents had to drive up the hill after the streets were plowed, very dangerous. Good luck to all!

@CalminHeart Another one coming for us Saturday and then again Tuesday.  I hope this does not turn into the winter of 2014.  Solid ice all winter.  I broke my foot that winter.

This morning the roads were a sheet of ice.  The temps were above freezing but the ground/pavements are frozen.  There were vehicles off the road all over metro.  Thankful we didn't have to drive this morning.. By noon, the ice was over.
