I thought they couldn't do the fee thing anymore. The balance shouldn't decrease until you use it.

True, at least in NY.  I just found one visa and one Bloomingdale's gift card I had completely forgotten about from an auction at work about 5 years ago.  I checked the balances and they were each still worth $50.00.

I love gift cards!  It takes the stress out of giving!  And people aren't getting things they don't need, don't want, doesn't fit, they have to display or dust!

I love getting them also.  One great Christmas gift was a card for a FREE car wash at a nice wash place--not a drive through!  I was so happy and my car so clean!

Edited to add:  It also avoids the dreaded "a gift they wouldn't buy for themselves" or the "gift they would never think of"--which usually elicits the thought: "oh boy what am I going to do with that thing?"

It maybe takes the stress out of your giving, but what if the recipient doesn't want or need the gift cards?

I try to just regift the cards, but as I admitted to before, hundreds of dollars went to waste.

I don't mind buying gifts. I love it actually. And I have all the time in the world to look for that perfect gift. But you have to admit, sometimes that perfect gift falls flat just like a gift card does to someone. If we have a project to do around our homes or yard, I'll buy Lowe's or HD gift cards to rack up gas points. Again win/win. We go through a lot of gas. We are always on the road. Doing road trips. On one now! Free gas or $1.59 off a gal, well we'd be stupid NOT to go for it.

Yes!  I found them in a desk drawer I don't really use.  It made my day, especially when I checked the balances!

I like them I use them and I gift them to those who like them. Even my grandchildren ask for them now. (Sephora, Fanatics, Roblox, etc). Just picked up a couple today at the grocery store. We'll be with grandkids and they like Chipotle, so we'll order from there. We get gas points for buying them (sometimes up to 10X) so it's a win/win for us.

My 11 year niece loves Roblox gift cards.  It's practically all she ever wants.   Kids and young people love gift cards.  While I don't like giving gift cards,  I do if that's what the person requests.

I am a gift card user.  I love getting them but need to be careful where you get them for when you purchase.  Restaurants come and go any more.  I don't eat out much so I would rather have for other places that I go to.

I have re-gifted a gift card now and then and worked out great.  Someone can always use that I know.  Never goes to waste.

I having been picking up cards lately from church and they get a percentage on cards ordered and the program is called Scrip.  Helps them out.  Anyway, been getting different cards to use at Christmas time when making my purchases.  I know where I shop and will be shopping.  Keeps me in line during the holiday so I don't  blow my budget.  Which I usually do.  😝

My Mom would get gift cards and then keep them in her dresser drawer even when she went shopping! I think they should be carried always and used right away !

I like getting gift cards myself. I know lots of people don’t, but for me they come in handy. If I get gift cards as gifts, I make sure it’s a place they go to for things, or they specifically ask for one.

I use them as soon as I can, especially the restaurant cards.
